Default Vista Virus

I have Apple laptop thats older, but my new job will give me a new Vista64 Laptop.

I am not really that computer knowledgeable, so forgive my question.

Do Windows Vista64 come with anti-virus protections?

If not, do I need anti-virus?

new vista computers normally come with a trial version of a virus protection program, which typically expires within 30-90 days. And for any windows-based computer, YES you need a virus protection of some kind. Viruses most frequently impact windows above just about any other operating system. However, if your company is providing you the new computer, they frequently will pre-load it with a corporate licensed version of an anti-virus software. I would just ask them if it comes pre-loaded like that. Otherwise, invest in a decent AV software, it's worth it.

BTW, you should even have anti-virus protection for your Apple... Yea, it's not at nearly as much risk, but the risk still does most assuredly exist. Just a minor recommendation....

Yes, you need antivirus software and update it constantly!

The following product is free:

Comodo Internet Security Suite (Firewall & Antivirus)

Or, when you install the Comodo Suite, opt to only install and use the firewall component of the program and use the following antivirus, which is also free:

Avast! Home Edition (Antivirus)
