Default Just listed my first item for sale on Amazon

I have sold for many years on ebay and more recently quite a bit on half.com. There is a book that I've been wanting to list on half.com but they don't have it in their system. I sent a request to add it weeks ago but they haven't done so, so I decided to list it on Amazon. I just registered and listed it. If it sells, it will go toward the Ebay Challenge money. There was one new copy listed for $20.00 and several used copies starting at about $3.50. Mine is brand new and I priced it at $9.95. Hopefully, someone will grab it.

I have some luck on Amazon. It was easy to do. Sometimes there are so many copies of a book for sale it isn't worth listing. I would of the 10 books I have listed I have sold 7 of them.

There was only 1 new copy and 7 used copies so hopefully I have a decent chance.

I just listed 3 textbooks on Amazon about 1 month ago. I had never sold anything on Amazon prior to that either. I had a buyer on 1 of those books last week. I usually just list mainly on Ebay and rarely on Craigslist.

Inspired by you recent challenge, I listed two text books on Amazon.com this past Friday. They have both sold within the last 12 hours for $70! Yea!

Can you sell something other than books on Amazon? I admit I'm not digging eBay anymore (sellers are not important to them, IMO), though I've sold nearly everything I've ever listed in the past.

I've sold old movies and CD's on there before, too. I don't know about anything else, though.

I *love* selling on Amazon. It could not be easier. My strategy is the same as Walmart -- sell at the lowest price. If the cheapest price for Used - Like New is $9.99, I list mine for $9.98. The strategy has paid off as I've made nearly $200 in the past two weeks selling DVD's on Amazon. If the item doesn't sell for a few days, I go in and modify the price to ensure I'm the lowest. The best part is, if you are the lowest price, your listing shows on top...and I think that's why my items have sold so quickly.

You can sell nearly EVERYTHING on Amazon, assuming there is a listing for the item. I've sold a used Waffle Sticks Maker, DVD's, video games, books, etc. They do have some restrictions on top selling items (I was not allowed to sell my Wii Fit.)

I think I'd like to get into selling things online as well, I've always wanted to. My only problem was shipping, I've never really packed and shipped anything before and I suppose I was a bit stubborn to learn to do so. When out and about around town I've seen some places like little UPS packaging centers and such that appear to do it for you, but I never actually went inside. Is it pretty easy?

Shipping is simple. You don't want to use a place that does it for you because they charge to do it.

If you are shipping Priority Mail, you can get free boxes from the post office. You can order them online or pick up supplies at your local post office. If you are selling fragile stuff, buy a roll of bubble wrap. I've found the best place to do that is ebay. The other good thing to have is styrofoam packing peanuts. I've been selling online about 15 years and have never paid a penny for those. I just save them whenever I get them and tell my family and friends to do the same. You can buy them on ebay, too, if you have to.

The only other thing that makes life a whole lot easier is a scale. Otherwise, you have to pack everything and take it to the post office to get weighed before you list the item for sale, then take it back again to ship. That's a huge waste of time.

You can do everything from the comfort of your home since you can print postage at home now and have Priority Mail picked up for free. I hardly ever go into a post office. I just do everything at home and take the packages to work with me and the mailman takes them from there.

DS, thanks for the info about the book you had that wasn't in the system. I have one that it won't take. I'll look around on the site to see where I can contact them to add one, and if they don't I'll try Amazon.

Does Amazon take paypal? Any other methods taken? I have paypal for e bay. I tried to get signed up on amazon once and couldn't figure out how to sign up to sell. I am a seasoned e bay seller(since about 2000)

There is no listing fee. There is a commission on sales that varies by type of item.
