Default saving money on your phone bill

I just happened to review my land line phone bill the other day and noticed that I was paying $2 a month for the privilege of getting 10 cents a minute long distance. If I cancelled it, I would pay no monthly fee but long distance would be 12 cents a minute. Seeing that I don't use my land line for long distance, it's a no brainer. What is unfortunate is that I've been paying $2 a month for years with no idea that it was unnecessary.

Tip - learn from my mistake. Check to make sure you're not paying a premium for a service you don't use.

Oooh, I did this calculation and figured out that we could lower our cell phone minutes (and thus the price) AND get rid of the $6.75 we were paying for long distance. Good reminder.
