Do you ever read people's posts and wonder what their screen name means? I know I do. Some are pretty straightforward, like mine, but others are cryptic. I'm sure they have meaning to their user but leave the rest of us wondering.
So what does yours mean? I'm disneysteve. Not too tough to figure out. My name is Steve and I'm a big Disney fan. We go to Disney World annually (though had to skip this year ) and we have a fairly extensive collection of Disney memorabilia dating back to the 1930s, though mostly from the 1970s and on.

cooliemae
I went to a residential high school for my junior and senior year. As I was moving into my room, I heard one of the other new students yelling, "Coolie Mae! Coolie Mae is that you?" The question was being directed towards me. When I told the other student that I was this Coolie Mae, he seemed very downtrodden and explained to me that I looked like his friend Coolie Mae. My new roommate thought it was hilarious because apparently the real Coolie Mae is black, and I'm not. So the name stuck in high school and I've used it ever since as my internet personality. |

Mel Gibson had a movie once about the Vietnam War called "We Were Soldiers". I think. In the movie, his position was over-run by the enemy, and he made a distress call, Broken Arrow, which is asking for all the allied support to bombard everything they had on their own position. In this case, it was better to risk destruction by their own hands as a last-ditch effort to survive, rather than face certain destruction at the hands of their enemy.
Psychologically, that's how I felt about my financial situation at the time, that things have gotten so desperate that I would take whatever extreme measures necessary to get back to financial health, even if it meant having to hurt myself somehow.... |

FrugalFish- Well, I'm frugal and "fish" is part of my name. I also swim like a fish, but I don't drink like a fish.

That's not a bad example either, although it wasn't what I was originally thinking on when I settled on the alias.Last edited by Broken Arrow : 12-22-2008 at 08:26 AM. |

creditcardfree
I chose this because when I joined we had just closed all our credit cards! Yes, they all had zero balances! |

Caoineag is gaelic for banshee (great tragedy and loss is said to befall those who hear the caoineag's cry). Pronounced like cognac. I have a lot of scottish heritage, its a unique name and at the time I had lost over half my family. I wasn't feeling particularly chipper, especially since I had lost my mother, maternal grandmother and maternal great aunt in less than a year.

fruitbowlk is a name I just made up because I needed a screenname. The K does stand for my first name which is Kenya.

I guess mine's kind of obvious, too, I wanted to stress less about our financial life at the time. Even though our credit card debt is paid off, I'm still striving to find ways to increase our financial peace and to spend less time thinking about money. As other problems crop up in life, it's nice to have the money stuff almost running on automatic.

Ok, anyone ever heard of the song "yakity sax"? Or, most likely, that Charlie Brown song (yakity yak, don't talk back)? Back in like 96, I was yakity on Mirc on dalnet. I signed on one time and "yakity" was taken, all the names I could think of were taking also. So, I became "zakity" and I have been "zakity" on the computer ever since.

Mine is a combination of what my husband calls me 'Princess' and the old nickname fellows used to call me...
Following is a hopefully PG-13c version.... When many were asked "which girl are you talking about?" they said "the one who is 'small but perky'". I was and am 6 ft tall, so they were not referring to my height, just old fashioned teenage obsession with chest size. I discovered this from one group of friends accidentally, then found out it was widely used at all three of my jobs. (which waitress? the one that is perky, not big but perky) Anyway when I found out about it back in the 90s It was right before my first ever email address (wow I am old!) I thought the irony and stupidity (why not call me the redhead?) funny and being self conscious about my lack of size decided that at least the fellows noticed something so I used perky online ever since. (though after I hit 20 they grew, so now maybe it is now my vain hope that they are still perky in spite of nursing 4 kids?) |
