I'm loving Half.com

I have periodically listed and sold a book here and there on Half.com, but it was never something I did much of. Recently, I have gotten much more active with them and WOW! The results have been tremendous.

As the regulars here know, I do a lot of medical surveys for doctors. Most pay in cash. Some give me an Amazon gift card. Others, though, which I don't usually talk about, give a "medically relevant item." That can be a variety of things, some more medically relevant than others. I've gotten a slew of USB flash drives, pens, laser pointers, PDA cases, digital voice recorders, stethoscopes, blood pressure cuffs, etc. Most of those things get used at home or in my office. Some have gotten sold on ebay. And some of the surveys give me a certificate for a medical book store online. Well, there are only so many books I need for my own use, so I've often let those certificates go to waste.

Recently, I got a couple of medical dictionaries and decided to list them on half.com. One sold with 48 hours and the other was gone a couple days later. Hmmm. Maybe I should be doing more of this.

I had several certificates sitting on my desk that I had never redeemed. I logged on and searched the offerings. They give a set selection of 10-12 items for each cert, usually books related to the topic of the specific survey. I took a little time to browse the offerings and search for each of them on half.com to see what they were selling for. I then proceeded to order several books. I got one last week and listed it on Sunday. It sold yesterday, less than 24 hours later.

I got my new PDR 2 weeks ago. Last week, I listed the old copy. It sold in 3 days. Today, another of the medical dictionaries sold (I have gotten a few more).

Bottom line is that since October 1, I have racked up sales of $87.68 on half.com. Since most of the items I'm selling are things I got for free, that is mostly profit. It is way easier than ebay since I don't need to take a picture or write a description. Packing books is simple. And half.com handles the payments, so I don't have to track down buyers or wonder if I'll get paid. I sure won't be passing up the surveys that give me those certificates any more.

So if you have a source of books to sell, I highly recommend giving half.com a try.

I will definitely have to look into this. I've got a lot of books that could, and should, be gotten rid of.

There are many different companies. If you are, or you know, a physician who might be interested, I could get you some info.
