Default what should i do.....

Last Feb. I had to get a new waterheater suddenly. I went to Lowes and they told me I couldn't have what i wanted because there installers do not install tankless water heaters. So Since i was desparate, I got another 40 gal tank heater. They came to my house to install it and told me because my exhaust pipes werent up to code because they didn't ventilate properly and would leak carbon monoxide. I would need new ones at a cost of 600. At the time I felt I had no choice, It was a Friday and I didn't want to wait till monday it was take it now or leave it. So I spent the extra.

Well I just a Month ago had a home energy audit done by a company certified by NY state, they said it isn't vented properly and a small amount of carbon monoxide is in the basement.

As part of the energy audit and improvement program I am getting a high efficiency tankless water heater (among other things)

What do you think I should do about Lowes substandard installation since it is being removed anyway?

All you can do is request a refund or take them to court. They probably use a subcontractor, so they may not honor his work.

One thing I have learned is, you won't get what you don't fight for.

But they may say all they will do is have someone fix it ..... and i don't want them in my house. This is not the first issue with their work. They tied the pipe to the drain pipe of my bathtub and it pulled it loose so my drainage went all over the floor.

next time you may also want to consider the price of convenience ,I recently went over a week without hot water while my husband installed a new water heater. I survived just fine , wasn't peachy and i could not wait till it was done but was doable.

once my sewage pipes backed up into the yard it was a mess I called the roto rooter guy he said he would be out in a hour for 250 bucks I told him no hurry the damage is done just come out as soon as you can he said great i will be there in a couple hours,I got charge 100 dollars for a non emergency call .Waiting really made no difference except to my pocket book

some things are emergencies but most things just need to be handled

if I were you I would sell the water heater they take outsince it is new that would recoup a little of your dough

Lowes stands behind their installers. Get the result of your energy audit in writing and bring it back to Lowes and talk to the top manager on site (GM maybe). They will remedy the problem.
