Default how do you freeze your credit?

I just filed for modification of child support and they sent my ss# on the court order to my crooked ex husband. i think i would sleep better if i could freeze things for a while. If anyone could tell me why the courts feel the need to put that on their i would be thrilled to know. In this day and age of id theft they shouldn't do it. uggh
