I guess this is what I don't like about the plan. If you were buying new furniture for yourself and your fiance that you would take with you (and it was good quality stuff), that would be different. But you want to spend money to replace perfectly good furniture with something of lesser quality for a guest room. Just doesn't make sense to me.

Yes, I agree. I was thinking under the terms that although it is not solid wood, it would be under light use and make a beautiful guest bedroom. As guest bedroom furniture, it would be absolutely perfect. For our master bedroom, we would buy a higher quality set.

Either way - I don't like the furniture in the room the way it is now. Maybe it looks fine in the picture, but I want my guest bedrooms to be comfortable and modern....but that doesn't mean I have to spend $$$

The finish on the new bedroom set scratch so easily. I know as I have bought a similar set and it looked aged pretty quickly. It is okay to have 'If' it s used very lightly.

It seems like you will be using the new furniture’s right off the bat for a couple of years before leaving it to the use of the guest room. I would think you would have to be extra careful of them for awhile.

Also is there a change the guest room will become a future baby room? If so, so many people selling almost new/ barely used furniture on craigslist to make room for baby.

Also remember that modern changes over time. What looks modern today will look terribly outdated 10 years from now. However, what looks classic today will still look classic 10 years from now.

True...

I think we are going to take a step at a time - rather than changing everything quickly. I moved out all of my belongings and clothing...next we are going to put a paint color on the wall...then tear up rug...then maybe I will keep my aged but good quality furniture and just change the hardware...
