Default spywear

IS this a problem in sending for freebies? I use an address I can dump but I wonder after reading Consumers Report if clicking on these things could be a problem?

Make sure you have spyware and adware and anti-viral software all installed, kept up-to-date and run them at least weekly.

All 3 are free: AVG for viruses, Ad-aware for ads and Spy-bot for spyware.

No. Just one is sufficient. I only mention AVG because it is free.

I've actually been needing to get a new anti-virus program... my new computer came with McAfee, but I'm not a huge fan of it (kinda intrusive), and the trial period is about up. I'm not too keen on paying $50-$100 to renew it....

Where can you get AVG and Spy-bot? Have you been pretty happy with them? I've used Ad-Aware for years, works great.
