Everyone may know this, but I know I sometimes forget so I thought a reminder might be helpful.
When shopping online for anything, anywhere, before placing your order, Google the retailer's name and "coupon" to see what comes up. Very often, you can find a code to get a discount or free shipping or something. Example: The other day, I was shopping for a necktie we needed for a gift. I found one at, of all places, a medical uniform company. Before I placed the order, I searched for a coupon and found that by signing up for the company's e-mailing list, I could get 10% off my first order. So I signed up and got the discount code. That saved me $3.50 in a matter of seconds. You can also find coupons for bricks and mortar retailers. Last weekend, we were going to Dick's Sporting Goods to look for something. I searched online and found a $10 or $50 purchase coupon and took that along. We ended up not buying anything, but I was ready if we had.

If you are buying a big item, actually CALL and ask for a discount too. If nothing else you can usually get free shipping. I have been amazed how many discounts my spouse has gotten on electronics. Seems to be a little known secret. Not so much the regular retailers, but some of the purely online retailers will work with you.
I just got free shipping on some clothing looking up online coupons at checkout though. I love those. Good tip! |

You beat me to it, that is a great site. I really like that you can see the success rate and other people comments on any luck or lack there of with using them.

I do this as well. Sometimes I have to check several sites to find an active code but it's worth it. Don't forget to go through MrRebates or Ebates as well as checking to see if one of your CC's offers a discount/rebate/cashback.
