Default Do you ever really get ahead? vent

I'm so frustrated. I worked 12 hours overtime last week. I went to my car where i parked on the street (because I can't afford to park in the garage) and found a ticket on my car for $100 for parking too close to the fire hydrant. What the hell do I have to do to get ahead?

Well, I always carefully check near where I'm parking. There is always a resident parking only sign or something else hidden about. Of course, I don't drive my car around the city, I park it near my house and it just sits there until I drive out of the city. Just be careful.

What I hate is when the police suddenly decide to enforce something that they've never enforced before. When I was in med school, we all (students and faculty) used to park on the street behind the school. One day, the police decided to ticket every car on the street (about 50 vehicles) because parking isn't technically allowed there. It happened just once in over 4 years that I was there. We all parked there before that. We all parked there after that.

I hate to say it but anytime i leave the house house i feel i could be randomly cited for something I may or may not have done

one year we worked overtime , saved money people gave us for our birthdays to buy our kids presents a cop pulled us over and cited us for no seat belts( we were in fact wearing seat belts) , took all our Christmas money away we just cried at the uselessness of trying so hard

we just trudge on and I do have enough extra money for when the authorities decide to impose "safety"tax on me ;-)

I once got a ticket in the mail for being parked illegally in Pittsburgh, PA. Only problem was I was in Philadelphia at the time. Apparently, the cop had copied the license number wrong so I ended up with the ticket. I had the registrar of the school send a letter documenting that I was, in fact, in school in Philly at the time and could not have been parked, legally or otherwise, in Pittsburgh on that day.

That's exactly what happened. Where I live they normally don't give tickets unless you're actually blocking the hydrant.

Have you given Murphy a reason to follow you around? Hmmm.

That happened to DH last year. We got a parking ticket in the mail from a city 3 hours away that we hadn't been to in months. I called and apparently the cop had transposed the license plate number. The person who received the ticket had already paid it so it wasn't an issue luckily.
