Default Mint.com

I saw this mentioned on other threads and have been looking at it for awhile. I am tempted to sign up for it, but I would like to know if anyone here uses it or if you think I should be concerned about security with it!
Thanks!

That looks interesting. I can't believe I've never heard of this.

I use MS Money for budgeting, etc but it's interesting to note that this software is free.

Still thinking about this, does anyone have any experience with the site?

I signed up for it. Not sure I like it. I really like Microsoft Money better. I think Mint.com was great for the overall picture, but when it came down to individual transactions, I thought it was really hard to manage/sort/rename them.

I've been using mint and love it. My finances are fairly simple, but I have about 8 accounts. Mint lets me log in once and see all my balances . . . which is mostly what I need. I tried using Mvelopes as well but found it cumbersome and more complicated than what my needs call for.

My favorite feature on mint is the weekly update emails where I get my week-ending balances, and a summary of large transactions.

I have been using Mint.com for a while. It's fairly simple to use for us. I'm sure I'm not using it to it's full extent but I'm liking what I'm seeing so far.

I use it but I don't use it to it's full extent. I just log on to see my balances and balance ratios on my c.c's. It's good so far.

Mint.com is a site that I frequently recommend to people. It's a great site if you're lousy at remembering to pay bills on time, or do routine transactions. I also suggest it to people who are trying to get credit cards paid off since the payments can be preset. I wasn't comfortable with it, because I like being very hands on with my finances and often make large changes, but everyone I've recommended it to has loved it.

Just found this service myself, and I'm loving it! I've tried to use MS Money and Quicken in the past and I keep forgetting to use them when I get home. This I can log into on the go from any computer. It's really helping me to get a handle on some aspects of my finances that were spiraling out of control.

As for security, per the original poster's question, I generally trust the Motley Fools, and they have a lot of users, so I suspect we would have heard if there were any problems in that regard.

thought I'd resurrect this thread as I've been using it for going on a year now. Actually signed up about two years ago and it has gotten much better for what I need—tracking expenses by category.

I'm a visual person so it's great to be able to see spending trends in pie charts and bar graphs. I love data, so this stuff makes managing money fun.

I don't like that they try to hock credit cards, investments at you though as "ways to save".

As with most stuff online, this is the 'price' we pay for getting the software for free. The ads allow Mint to provide the service without charging us.

I like Mint. Have used it for a couple years. I went away from it briefly, but ended up coming back to it. I found that it is currently the most flexible option to cross multiple platforms (computer, Ipad, etc.) and connect live to (almost) all of your bank accounts.

The only thing I would like to see is an option to create subsidiary accounts. In other words, it shows that I have $xx dollars in saving, but also that the $xx breaks down to $xa being saved for vacation, $xb being saved for EF, $xy being saved for the holidays, etc.

I like Mint.com. It's pretty cool that they have an app for smart phones too. Pretty neat setup for free.

Thumbs up Mint is great!

I've been using mint.com for a few years now and have had few issues with it. Every once in a while I'll stumble upon a bug, but for the most part it works great. I really like the goals feature, although I would like more options there. I can't speak for the security, but they haven't been hacked yet.

Try it, I think you'll like it!
