Default WalMart updates Rx plan

In case you missed the news, WalMart has updated their generic prescription plan. Now, not only can you get a 30-day supply for $4 but you can now also get a 90-day supply for $10. They've also added a list of over the counter medications that are now $4 each.

Go to walmart.com and click on the Pharmacy tab to get to the list of meds included in the plan.

Sorry if this is a bit of a tangent, but generics are taking the prescription market by storm. I'm seriously looking into this space and seeing what kind of investment opportunities are out there... even though I'm probably already late to the game. Anyone have any thoughts on any specific companies?

Thanks for the reminder. My kitty takes thyroid meds that we buy at Walmart and I'm forever hopeful it will turn up on that list at some point. Not this time either, but glad I was reminded to check as it's time to buy again...

Teva is an obvious choice.

I saw this as well, which is great, but I was hoping that Walmart would show the prices of all its meds. As I mentioned in another thread, now that i'm in a high-deductible plan I need to comparison shop.

Yes indeed! I've look at that along with Barr, Watson, Perrigo, Mylan... and of course, all the major names are also announcing their own competing generics as well....

You know, maybe it's a space that's just way over my head right now. Shotgun approach comes to mind, but not practical to DIY.... A specialized ETF somewhere would be better.

But maybe it's best if I leave that alone for now. That or just stay with pharma retailers....

Anyway, just thinking out loud, but still open to suggestions.

They can't do that as easily because prices vary by location and state laws and they are not always the same. In fact, even some items on the $4 list aren't $4 in all states.
