Start your own website with some quality and fresh information and promote the site to gain some traffic to it. Then enable Google adsense in your site.

If you really have few quality content on your site, then definitely after 3 months you start earning from your site.

This is one of the way to earn money online and currently it is growing rapidly.

You can answer surveys and do product research for survey companies. You can switch your money aroung getting new deals on the banks for new accounts.

You can sell your own products online.

You have to be aware that it is very difficult to earn any kind of decent money online unless you have a product to sell. Websites or blogs with affiliate links can take years to build up enough traffic to earn a decent income - paid surveys are time consuming and pay little - also if you don't fill in the profiles 'correctly' ie you dont' present the profile they are looking for (eg smoker, fitness junkie, someone who travels the world every year etc) then you won't be given many surveys to fill in. Think about what you can sell - this is probably your best avenue. Do you know how to build a website? Do you know about SEO? Chances are you'll make more money in the offline (real) world

The OP was asking about ways of making money online. He or she didn't say they wanted to earn their main living from the online business.

I think many people start out parttime at home while maintaining a job fulltime until their business can support them.

I think that by doing some surveys, it introduces you to ways of making money online. I'm sure there are those that earn enough to pay for their internet connection a month.

If you're trying to lower your expenses, this would be one way of doing it.
