I appreciate the well wishes. Kids were born 12 weeks early and wife had been in hospital since week 20 of the pregnancy with complications.
Both boys are off all breathing assistance. DS1 weighed 2 lbs 14 oz at birth and was 2 lbs 10 oz lst night. DS2 weighed 2 lbs 6 oz at birth and was 2 lbs 3 oz last night.
If any of you are ever pregnant and have risk of early delivery, I strongly suggest getting the steroid shot at 24 weeks. It might have saved my sons lives. At minimum they are more comfortable now because they need no breathing assistance.
We know of babies born with higher gestational age which have many more breathing problems because their mothers did not get the steroid shot.

Congrats Jim! As a fellow engineer and recent father (we have a 15-month-old), I know a bit of what you are going through. Our daughter was in NICU for a week and it was very difficult. Everything turned out ok, and I wish you the same luck.

I was born 3 months too early and weighed only 2 pounds and 4 ounces myself. My parents told me I stayed at the hospital for 4 months. I am partial deaf but not in a way that it would interfere with my life and I have grown successful with college education and have a good job while I am independent.
There is a family of mine joke I would like to share with you... I was teased in a fun way because I was the "runt" of the siblings and was really fragile at birth. My family called me runt in a funny way since I was doing so much involvement growing up with sports, plays, yes even choir in high school. I went ahead to college and I am the only one so far that went to a university in my family's mothers' side. Now I am called Grunt! Meaning Grown Up Runt!
Hang in there and congratulations! I just did a quick prayer for you and your family.

Extending my congrats to you family as well . Good luck with your boys!
Yesterday I discovered that one family has TRIPLETS in our neighborhood. I found it cool to observe them, but I'm definitely happy I'm not their parent .

I didn't realize that they were early. Prayers and thoughts for health and good weight gain. My niece was 3 months early and so, so tiny, but now is a very happy, active 4 year old. Modern medicine is amazing. So glad they are doing well.
