Default i am irritated

people hear me mention waiting untill something is on sale and think i am in need of charity. I don't want charity i just don't want to pay full price. or i got a friend who sells Mary kay, and wants to sell me $45 face cleanser set. I am good with my $5 bottle of biore. thanks but she is my friend so i am trying to be polite about it. (well i did ask if she had anything for my skintype but when i heard the price...well no. )

how do you respond to these situations?

I'd probably say, "Thanks, but no thanks."

Of course, you most likely won't find two guys arguing over a bottle of Mary Kay face cleanser set so....

"Thanks for offering, I don't need your money, I just love a good bargain."

"Thanks for thinking of me, but I'm really not interested/or/have no need."

Everyone who knows me, knows I'm cheap (frugal) so they would never ask me such questions.

I'd say, "Wow! I could buy 25 bars of Dove soap for that much money. No thanks."

Bcause she is your friend and she does sell Mary Kay either as her main job or side job. Say it bluntly that is something that is not what you want so she does not keep asking over and over again. Even though she is your friend, consultants of any kind should be used to hearing "no" from others.

thanks everyone. I asked her how much it cost because she just got laid off from her main job. I have never ordered from her but she had previously offered makeup samples for my wedding since she knew i didn't have any makeup, so i kinda felt like returning the kindness i might have bought a bottle had the price been closer to what i am paying for biore stuff i already use.

I see.... I would not feel bad as simply you did not know what price range the MK product when you inquired and you would never known if you didn't ask. Even though she provided samples for your wedding, I am pretty sure it was more of something that she wanted to help with. Weddings do that to people as it really a community involvement that people generally enjoy(especially ladies).

I would just simply say that the prices is just really more than you are willing to pay for your facial cleansing needs but thank her for showing you. Maybe let her know if anyone else you come across express interest in MK that you would referr her as a MK consultant?

I know what you mean about the sticker shock of the MK products but wanting to buy from her out of kindness, I have a friend who is an AVON rep who just had a forced retirement from her main job. I find it is hard to not want to help.

You need to tell her that you have a budget and the price for the items is much higher than what you are using now. Having a budget and sticking to it is not being a charity case.

If you feel you want to buy something, you could buy something less expensive, a tube of lipstick etc. I love the Acne Treatment gel- it is like $7 and lasts a long time. My aunt USED to do MaryKay because she loved the products....She never made a profit and did not want to, she would sell it at her cost to the relatives.

Just tell her the truth, Real Friends Understand. Ask her to let you know when items go on sale for real cheap (if they ever do?).
