Places To Get Food For Those In Need

I'm quite embarrassed to be writing this to you, but I have two small children to feed and no money to buy food. I need help and I don't know where I can go to get it. Do you know of any places where I may be able to get some food for my family to tide me over until the end of the month? Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Have you looked into government programs such as obtaining food stamps or WIC (Women Infant Children)? What about charitable organizations?

Check with local churches. You seem to have access to a computer and many local churches will have "Those in Need" email address where people can ask for help without intially being seen in person.

Are there any food banks near you?
In the future you can also order food packages for cheap through Angel Food Ministries if there is a pick-up location near you. I think it is something like $25 for a box of food.

Help for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women as well as infants and children up to age five who are found to be at nutritional risk.

For $30, your can get a box of fresh and frozen food from Angel Food works. They work with churches and community organizations to help distribute food to those in need.

Second Harvest is a network of food banks through out the United States.

This might no be of help now, but the governement offers a summer food program which helps those that rely on the governement food program

Like everyone said, check your local churches. I know my gf's church gives out grocery items every friday. Also, I think some local bakeries donate bread that didn't sell.

Angel Food Ministries is an excellent place to go for nutritious food for your family. I have used them many times when we've been in need and they are wonderful people:

Also call around to your local churches. Some of the churches in our area have free food giveaways on certain Saturdays of the month.

Many years ago I was in serious financial trouble and feeding my kids was a real problem. I found the most help at the local catholic church diocese. I'm not catholic but their benevolence is awesome. Contact the local catholic church and diocese.
