That reminds me of the guy that robbed a bank, walked down the street with a bag full of money, and ended up getting mugged and had his bag of stolen money stolen from him. He promptly went to the police station to report the incident and was immediately arrested. STUPID!!!

A loan officer once told me that robbing a bank is stupid when you can do it legally.

There's no law preventing anyone of us with superb credit going in and maxing out $100,000 lines of credit and just taking the money and not paying it back.

Sure, they can shoot your credit to heck and make sure you never get a credit card again. . .but what the hey? You just invest that money and buy Visa Gift cards for those orders over the internet until it comes off your history.

If you don't pay back the money, collectors will come after you. You might lose your house and other property. This plan might work for someone who can leave the country permanently and live somewhere else with the stolen money.

The point is having collectors come after you isn't a criminal offense.

They can't lock you in jail for maxing out your credit. All they can do is harrass you and sue you. IF they win you declare bankruptcy and have the debt discharged.

So. . .you may have to bury the $100,000 to keep them from getting it.

A few years ago we had a robber who was "brilliant" as the one in the article. He had hung around the gas station and even asked one of the gals who worked there out and gave her his phone number. She never called him, but it came in handy when he came back a day or so later and robbed the place! DUH!
