AAHHH! yep..i knew you guys would have some good ones... haha...i've heard all of those and i hate 'em too! especially car dealership ones!!

I hate the ones where they're like "act now and get 0% financing for up to 72 months!" ...eek... a 72 month car loan???????

oh and sweeps - yep, the ones where they break it down into "daily" cost...like 32 cents or 75 cents a day or "the price of a cup of coffee"... then when you start doing your calculations it comes out to a lot. i always raise my eyebrows at them because they sound so convincing i bet a lot of people dont even think about the real cost.. lol

I hate it when someone decides to make a purchase and says: "it's only money, you can always make more later."

No, you can't!

"We have to do it while the kids are young."

This one gets used constantly over on the Disney board. People act as if their kids will be scarred for life if they don't go to Disney World while they are in preschool. My first Disney trip was when I was almost 14 and I loved every second of it. Heck, the place didn't even open until I was 7 and I grew up just fine.

I hate the diamond commercials..first I think all the jewelry being offered on our local stations are ugly, but second..every gift does not begin with K...did they fail kindergarten phonics? it begins with G...or love, depending on how you look at it.

Are you referring to the Kay Jeweler's ads? They don't say every gift begins with K. They say ever KISS begins with K.

Yes! Isn't that funny. Actually, I have no intention to EVER take my kids to Disney. I really don't care for it and there are other places I would rather go. So, I often get looked at as if I have 2 heads since those who enjoy going can't imagine someone doesn't want to go there!

Here's another quote:

"Collect them all!"

This one I've only really noticed since having a small child.

I would be one of those people who can't understand this. Disney World has something for everyone, from infants to seniors, something to appeal to virtually every interest. That's why we keep going back. Every trip is different. Every trip holds new adventures.

Of course, we also love to travel and go lots of other places, too.

I have been to Disney world and just don't enjoy it. Very much a tourist trap. There are many other places I just prefer to go. I would rather just take my kids to the amusement park rather than Disney. If you enjoy it that is great because a lot of people do. But, it does seem like an expected rite of passage nowadays.

I love watching HGTV "House Hunters" and the host says "At a very affordable price of $450,000 . . ."

When did $450K become an affordable price for a house?

That is the part I object to, Whatever floats your boat is fine, but don't look at me like I am a terrible parent just cause I don't want to.

I agree. Nobody has to take a certain vacation or wear certain clothes or drive a certain car. The expectation that all parents have to take their kids to Disney World has become the norm.

I also love when they preceed the price with "only" like "get a new BMW for ONLY $59,999."

Speaking of car commercials, has anyone seen the new Toyotathon Phenomenon ads? The commercials show people destroying their old cars by various means (in other words, commiting insurance fraud) to purchase a new Toyota they "always wanted or needed." I find them really annoying and done in poor taste.

"You deserve a break today -- at McDonalds?"

I really dislike the whole category of commercials that grant permission or confirm entitlement for self-indulgence.
