Simplest Advice You'll Ever Hear
Stay out of the Shopping Centres. Simple. But true. Staying out of the hive of activity where retail grabs even the most arduous person will save you more money that you would expect it to. Oh but then theres the internet for shopping, stay well away from these sites if your trying to save money. Its the only way.

Don't forget about shopping networks on TV*. My mother has a problem avoiding those.

I have not been to a mall in 7 years. That saves a lot of money. I use to watch QVC but I quit. I have the order number for certain things like jeans and shorts and I just order on the phone when I need a new pair!

Well, if you can't shop at a "center in which to shop", you can't shop on the Internet, and you can't shop on TV... yeah you'll definitely save money... there's nothing left!

I'd say it's also a Canadian term. Didn't it know it wasn't used across the border, you learn something everyday!

Yes, if impulse buying tends to be a problem staying out of places where you can buy is a good way to avoid the stimulation to do so. Find other entertainments.
I know I'm not the only American who says "shopping center." Shopping center is the more general term. Malls are shopping centers, but not all shopping centers are malls. A mall is a shopping center with many stores enclosed under one roof, generally. However, a mall can also be a shopping center with separate stores under separate roofs, all in an area with pedestrian-only plaza around which the stores are centered. Then there are open shopping centers with no common roof and usually common shared car parking in front of them. Those shopping centers are often called strip malls, as the buildings tend to be layed out in linear fashion. Usually they share a walkway that links the stores, door to door. However, in the last 25 years they are often built in a U shape, all cozying around a parking lot (car park, alexjc?).

I need to stay away from internet shopping but not stores. Stores are where I buy things I need. The internet is where I buy things I WANT. Lol.

Today I went shopping with a friend. And, I was amazed at how many things caught my eye even though there was nothing I needed or wanted! For me, I just don't shop.
The best advice was from my dad. Don't put more on a cc than you can afford to pay off in full at the end of the month. I have always paid off my cc and will continue to do so. Good advice! And, advice that has probably saved me a lot of heartache!
