I currently usually work about 9-4 (usually skip going out to lunch so I leave at 4 instead of 5) Monday through Friday, but being that I'm trying to make extra $$$ I work at home in the evening when I feel like it too, which isn't bad (all snuggled up in my jammies proofreading instead of having to look presentable for the office!) I think my ideal work schedule would be what someone mentioned as the 3 days a week 12 hr shifts... Sunday, Monday and Tuesday would be perfect, rest of the week off!
It would be nice to have a weekday off every week, seems like it's less busy and easier to get stuff done than Saturdays when everyone is out! |

Although I've never actually worked an 11pm-7am shift, I imagine that's the shift I would like the most. You don't really have to deal with people and gossip, and it would probably give me tons of study time.

I love my work shift and have done it for years, 2:30 to 11 p.m., and I work at home. I love having my daytime hours, no rat race crowds to fight. I'm up at 7 or so and can sit with my coffee or sleep in (am helping babysit 2 grandnephews during the day most days of the week now but it won't be forever - I miss my morning long walks right now). This schedule is not popular which has always guaranteed me plenty of work at my job, which is also nice (medical transcription). I also work every Friday and Saturday night, definitely not something most folks would do, but I can't say I miss the singles scene out there anyway - you get together with folks for lunch (cheaper), works out fine. I'd never ever want to return to working days.

I work 12 hr shifts, but my days are 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off...basically I work 14-15 days a month, and have the rest off. On the short weeks, when I only work 2 on, I can take 2 vacation days, and actually have 7 days off in a row, and with 10 vacation days a year, that's like having 5 weeks of paid vacation! Gives me a lot of time to do what I want on the side.

I work from home and start at 7am (fall out of bed and switch on computer) and finish at about 5.30pm with three half hour breaks - breakfast at around 9.30am, lunch at 1 and tea and biscuits at 3.30pm -very civilised...
When I occasionally have to get the train into town - it's a real shock and I wonder how I used to commute every day without going nuts!! |

We can start anytime from 6:30 to 9:30 and end from 3:00-6:00....so long as you get your 8.5 hours in (30 min for lunch). I like 7:30 to 4:00, but we also have to average 10 hours per week of overtime, but that can be done anywhere (including home) and on weekends, and includes up to three hourse of fitness training.
Our state counterparts have great schedules; Monday-Thursday 7-5 pm with every Friday off. |
