Default Uses for VODKA besides drinking it

Who'd a thunk it!!

1. To remove a bandage painlessly, saturate the bandage with vodka.
The solvent dissolves the adhesive.

2. Clean the caulking around bathtubs & showers.
Fill a trigger-spray bottle with vodka, spray the caulking, let set 5 minutes, wash clean.
The alcohol in the vodka kills mold & mildew.

3. To clean your eyeglasses, wipe the lenses with a soft, clean cloth
dampened with vodka.
The alcohol in the vodka cleans the glass & kills germs.

4. Prolong the life of razors by filling a cup with vodka & soak your
razor in it after shaving.
The vodka disinfects the blade & prevents rusting.

5. Spray vodka on vomit stains, scrub with a brush & blot dry.

6. Using a cotton ball, apply vodka to your face as an astringent to
cleanse the skin & tighten pores.

7. Add a jigger of vodka to a 12-ounce bottle of shampoo.
The alcohol cleanses the scalp, removes toxins from hair & stimulates the growth of healthy hair.

8. Fill a 16-ounce trigger-spray bottle & spray bees or wasps to
kill them.

9. Pour 1/2 cup vodka + 1/2 cup water in a Ziploc freezer bag.
Freeze for a slushy, refreshable ice pack for aches, pain or black eyes.

10. Fill a clean, used mayonnaise jar with freshly packed lavender
flowers.
Fill the jar with vodka, seal the lid tightly & set in the sun for 3 days.
Strain liquid through a coffee filter, then apply the tincture to aches & pains.

11. To relieve a fever, use a washcloth to rub vodka on your chest &
back as a liniment.

12. To cure foot odor, wash your feet with vodka.

13. Vodka will disinfect & alleviate a jellyfish sting.

14. Pour vodka over an area affected with poison ivy to remove the
urushiol oil from your skin.

15. Swish a shot of vodka over an aching tooth.
Allow your gums to absorb some of the alcohol to numb the pain.

I don't know why anyone would want to waste perfectly good vodka doing all the things you list.

As for #11, I've always heard that you should not rub alcohol on children or babies because some gets absorbed through the skin plus the fumes get inhaled. Much safer to treat a fever with a tepid bath or shower and a dose of Tylenol.

if I wasn't drinking vodka, I would suggest making jello, and replacing 1/3 to 1/4 of the water with vodka.

Try this with any recipe which calls for water.

If you have a recipe which calls for juice, I might suggest replacing some of it with vodka or wine of the same flavor. I do this with mulled cider (replace cranberry juice with cranberry wine or some of the juice with cranberry -or berry- vodka).

Seems like almost all those uses can be fixed by rubbing alcohol. I think I'll just go over to jIM Ohio's and do jello shots. LOL

Well, uh, er, vodka can be used to treat frothy, proteinaceous, pulmonary edema by breathing in an aerosol or "simply" pouring it down the trachea!

I was wishing for some vodka today when I was making some peppermint toothpicks for my friend who is trying to quit smoking. I was hoping that peppermint oil would dissolve in vodka so I could disperse the oil into the toothpicks more evenly and lightly. But I just used vegetable oil instead.

Perhaps you could use something like peppermint schnapps to do the job.

You drank half a bottle before deciding you didn't like it?

(Just kidding. I'm assuming others drank it.)

HA I guess the next time I have people drinking at my house I'll just tell them to drink the vodka and if they get sick on the carpet just pour it out on there.

Isn't Captain Morgan's spiced, though? I would think that could affect the taste.

It works really well to get rid of the hangover from the prior night of heavy drinking.

for all y'all smart arses .....

1 - vodka is a clear liquid containing water, ethanol purified by distillation
from a fermented substance such as potatoes, grain or molasses & an
insignificant amount of other substances: impurities & possibly flavorings
alcohol content is usually 35% - 50% by volume, classic Russian, Lithuanian
and Polish vodka is 40%

2 - #11 said NOTHING about using on babies or children
you must have been drinking too much of it to make that leap - lol

I agree, why waste the vodka. Instead pour it in a glass and add orange juice, yummy!!

True. That's why I wanted to add the warning. Many people mistakenly assume that if something is safe to do to an adult, it is safe for a child and that isn't always true. I still have moms come in periodically telling me that they baby had a fever so they rubbed him down with alcohol. It is an old time remedy that still gets used, so I thought a warning was appropriate here.

There are some funny facts about Vodka- i never knew it could be used to kill bees and wasps.

Hmmm, i wonder if they are drunk on the Vodka before they die? That would be a nice way to go - mellow and drunk, you wouldnt even know what was happening...

I know personally that #15 is true! I had to use the most rock gut kind i could get, i figured the cheaper the worst it was and i was right, i bought a half pint of cheap vodka and it burned like crazy, but it took the pain away, i soak my bad tooth with it and the swelling and all go down, almost instant pain relief, except for the burn pain you feel while it sets there, but it does work.

Actually, the active ingredient there is the alcohol. Better vodka would have fewer impurities and would burn less, but would still have the same result. That's why costlier vodka is so much smoother when you are drinking it.
