How much do people spend on Christmas decorating?

Less than $50, would be my guess.

We have an artificial tree. Last year I didn't even bother to "undecorate" it. We just covered it with a soft bag left over from our last move and put it downstairs. Now we'll have an instant Christmas tree this year!

I usually buy one or two decorative doo-dads and maybe a Christmas CD, though I think my collection is about complete.

I don't think we spend anything.
We don't put up a tree. We have a Nativity that the gifts go beside. We make our own wrapping paper, which this year will mean buying tissue paper to stamp on. I do make a gingerbread house with DS2 so that is an expense.
