Are you Wealthy?

It isn't? Rats, I guess I'll have to rethink my plan, lol. At 20 I pretty much figured I was okay if I could make the rent and have enough for beers after work (such priorities).

I consider myself wealthy I have great healthy happy kids & a sometimes great husband & 2 great dogs we have a roof over our heads & food & clothes & cars so ya I consider us wealthy.

Others robably wouldnt we live in what is considered a "bad" area dont think its bad at all & I drive a clunker of a van but its paid for & the house is very very close to being paid for.

But I feel wealthy that my kids dont go without because I can really get deals on lots stuff like my youngest got a new coat for $7 that was with hat & gloves & all of it & its super cute so I feel wealthy in having a knack for clearances & deals.

When you look at how most of the rest of the world lives? Not just "yes" but "Hell Yes!". I read someplace that over a billion people in this world lives on less than a dollar a day. The vast majority of American's (even those that are poor by US standards) have a higher standard of living than royalty did 200 years ago. Clean water and indoor plumbing, abundant food, quality medical care (medical care at all, forget quality!), electricity, central heating and A/C, and machines that make manual labor in everday life almost a thing of the past (washing machines vs washing laundry by hand, for example.).

Now, if you're just comparing your personal wealth to those just in the US, then I'd say no, I'm not wealthy. Well off, to be sure, but not wealthy.

I am with nanamom and many others too. I actually feel extremely wealthy because I am not worrying how to pay my bills, my needs are secured, as are many wants. & yet all that matters little because I have happiness and a wonderful family, I would feel "wealthy" regardless.

Aren't we a sappy bunch? But I love it.

We don't have huge chunks of money sitting in the bank, but we have enough to cover all our needs and most our wants, we have enough to cover if one of us was unemployed for a year or so and we don't have to worry about bills and bill collectors and all that nonsense. So yes I feel very rich. I figure that if we continue to do what we are doing, one day we will have the big bank accounts and cushy investment portfolio but best of all we have each other, a baby on the way, a huge, wonderful famly and beautiful friends, so at the end of the day I have it all and am very wealthy~

Compared to where my parents were at my age, I am wealthy.
Compared to where my inlaws were at my age, I am wealthy.
Compared to the US at large, I'm doing okay.
Compared to the fellow residents of Seattle, Washington I am not doing well.
