Well, I have to work till 5 and hubby has class from 4-8:45, so probably not much will be goin on. But we both have long weekends from work and school so don't know what the plans are, but we both are determined that they will be relaxed and enjoying one another's company. But maybe I will make him some corny cute card or something little just to have today. Oh, and we are going for the record of saying "I love you" so many times today.

Yeah, I know that feeling. Of course, the only thing that cheers me up is that it's still better than last year. I don't think anything can beat last year. My ex was gone for an entire week, skiing with her boyfriend while I stayed home and watched the kids. Sigh. She even called me during the middle of her stay to tell me that she ran into a tree on the bunny hill. Must've really hit her noggin hard to have the gall to call me.

I'm just going to do my best to enjoy the day. Get a nice meal somewhere, relax with a hot bath, and probably go hang out at the library (because I really can't imagine too many couples wanting to hang out there).

Ba, sounds like this year should be great compared to that! Sorry.

I got my poem hubby got chocolate chip cookies....

My kids and I had a talk about how Valentines day is a day to tell everyone you love how much you love them, and appriciate them....not just the significant other....moms, dads, family, friends.

My husband was adorable at work for some down and out girls, holding the door and complimenting them, he is such a flirt now that he is married (was shy...ish...at least he claims..dunno I only knew him attatched to me)

And the kids made cards for their sunday school teachers and pastors, cute hearts, and barely readable names...but the point is showing appriciation..far more important to me than that my husband remind me he loves me...I know that, he tells me every day. But the pastors, waitresses, teachers, ect...they don't get told to often how important their work is.

Homemade dinner for me, a single rose droppeed off at work in the morning, and a gift from Clinique. He got the makeup remover I wanted, plus the bonus which is a makeup bag stuffed with...stuff.

Not bad for $25 or so. He did such a good job.

My present from Hubster was a big ol' box of chocolates (gotta love a man who comes bearing chocolates) and a sweet card! He always makes me feel like a queen. FrugalSon made me a very sweet homemade card and CashHappy took me to the matinee movie yesterday all on his own thinking (He got off from work early at 3 yesterday because of a bottleneck in production) and gave me the 50cents leftover from his fiver to put into the challenge! Matinees here cost $2.25 a person.

They each got a couple of packages of small candy from me and a very nice dinner w/special dessert w/all the fancy dishes and candles.

total spent: 61 cents getting 2 copies of a digital photo and 92 cents on a pack of Reese's Cups (we split it!).

everyone kept asking DH what he got me for valentine's day yesterday, and whenever he said 'nothing' they looked at him like he had 13 heads! some folks even called him a bad husband for it (and of all the things that could potentially make him one, this ain't it). he specifically asked me when we got home if it bothered me that we didn't do the cards/flowers/gifts like everyone else. ah, NO! checked to make sure it didn't bother him either, and sure enough we're on the same page on this front.

i told him next time people ask what he got me he can tell them i asked to receive nothing. if he wants to freak them out even more, tell them i also asked to not receive an engagement ring b/c i don't like diamonds

Some people think we're nuts too because we don't exchange anything (not even cards) on Valentine's Day. We started this tradition when we were saving for a house down payment and it just continued. We told each other Happy Valentine's Day, exchange a kiss, and laughed about what an uncommon couple we are.

For a treat, we bought 2 super-giant-size prawns (looked like baby lobsters) that we broiled and ate 1 each for dinner. Today my husband will go buy a box of Godiva chocolates at half-price (after V-Day clearance).

I sent cards (from the Target $1 section) and a bit of college fund $ to my niece and nephew.

That's it. Sorry Hallmark. Sorry FTD.

My DS2 was so excited about a one dollar cell phone case (just like Mommy and Daddy!!!!) He jumped aroung the room and danced for ages. He is still excited and telling everyone about it. DH got me flowers at Aldi's the night before, a teeny heart with candy and a wooden rose to save. I told him he went overboard. He loved the hand warmers.

For a gift kevin got me a box of chocolates and a big stuffed fluffy adorable dog, and I got him gift certificate for $50 at foot locker. I did our taxes online through turbo tax and got a few discounted gift certificates along with our tax refund - so that money wasnt from our budget (so it didnt hurt us this month). We also used a gift certificate for the theaters to go out and see "Norbit" at the movies last night (Thursday is our date night so we celebrated VDay last night instead) - and a good thing happened too... we were early and the first ones in the theater.. so Kevin started helping this nice old janitor clean up. As the show was starting, the janitor came back to our seats and slipped us two free passes to another movie of our choice as a thank you for kevin helping him. So we had a great Vday - and another (free) movie is in the near future!
