Default What's going on? My phone.

Every few minutes I am getting a call that consists only of beeps, all of the same tone, evenly spaced. Sounds like the beeps of an answering machine that uses tape and has a bunch of messages waiting. Not the ugly, screechy fax message noise that I'm familiar with. Must be some sort of automated dialer, eh? I can't disconnect the caller by hanging up on them. I'm expecting an important call, so I can't just disconnect my phone for a while.

Do you have a cell phone? I would call the local phone company. Maybe they can disconnect the call for you. How annoying! Wonder what happened?

It is a fax machine...it's what they do searching for a tone before sending the horrible icky sound. If they don't get the beep back in return they don't send the icky noise. Don't what to tell except to block the number if you can. Most faxes try three times and then give up. At least our does. Best of luck.

Hey, I think it has stopped. Must be the magic of posting here. Just watch and see how much posting increases here when I spread the word that, if you post at savingadvice.com, annoying phone calls will stop!
