This sounds like fun. However, I bought fudge this morning before I read this. I need to cut down on sugar too. i will finish the fudge and meet you at the staircase. Ray and I kept track of how many flights of stairs we climbed last year. We can come here each day and tell what we did for the day, what we ate, exercise, etc!!
Let's lose that person!

Ray, what is the 40-30-30 plan?? I found the low carb diet to be the easiest to stick to for me. I don't like fruit and veggies.

dark chocolate has less sugar. plus, for me at least, it satisfies the 'chocolate craving' with just a little bit as opposed to milk chocolate....

mmmmm, a square of dark chocolate melted with a swig of hot black coffee... a small piece of heaven!

40-30-30 is essentially eating a balanced percentage of carbs[40%], protien[30%] and fat [30%] at each meal/snack. I think it is close to the South Beach diet? or mediteranian diet.

I have the book and am using their menu ideas for all of my meals. When I eat out...I make sure to choose lower fat options and focus on protien- but also include some carbs as well.

For instance, I can eat a plain bagel for breakfast, I just have to use some low fat creme cheese and top it with a low fat meat like turkey or canadian bacon.

For dinner, I usually have 2-3 corn tortillas heated- with some chicken, salsa a little low fat cheese and some lettuce...I honestly do not get hungry and Ive noticed my blood sugar level/energy level stays pretty consistent.

and I continue to loose weight, so it is working for me. But I also am not deviating from the program as I have made up my mind to do this!!!

I *MIGHT* be in but I'm darn shore'tooting not telling you peeps what I weigh!

Haven't weighed lately, but have only had pop three times since Jan 1 and only one burger & fries which I ate mindlessly after forgetting that I'd said I was going to try to stay out of the fastfood places - the kids brought it home. Twice the pop was down before I even realized what I was doing. Once was on purpose - I was deviating and I knew it - BLECK!

I have noticed that the pants are a bit looser. We shall see. I'm going to weigh in the morning and keep it posted HERE privately and see where all your motivation and inspirational tales take me.

Yeah guys! Go go go!

I'm not in here - I lost my weight (20 lbs) last year and am very happy to be where I am. I just wanted to add my two cents that I found the South Beach diet easy to follow and easy to stay on. Aside from the first few days, I was never hungry (and I think the hunger was in my head anyway because I *knew* I was on a diet).

I'll be checking in to root for you all. Since my goal is to be more active, I will use this as an inspiration.

I had to think long and hard about telling my weight...and I came close to NOT doing so....but I just decided to own it and change it!

But I can definately understand a reluctance to be brutally honest in regards to weight....yikes.

I SINCERELY hope that I will never use a '2' as the prefix to my weight...ever, ever again!!! ugh

Thumbs up Re: Let's Lose a Person!

I want to drop from size 16 to size 14 so my initial goal is to lose 10 lbs. The medication I am on makes me gain weight so I can't aim for a drastic loss unless I eat dangerously low calories. I already go for a 30 minute walk every day; will look to increase my exercise.
