I Need Valentine's Day gift ideas for a man
Anyone have a few good ideas for what to get a man, a new man in my life, for Valentine's Day?
I don't want to be overly extravagant as we've only been dating a few months, but things have been going very well. I want it to be something thoughtful and personal.
I'd spend about $50 for the right gift.
He likes golf, long walks and is a doctor. He also plans to buy a kayak in the near future. He loves the beach.
i was thinking of a so-called 'deck bag' that is waterproof and fits nicely on the top of the kayak to hold your lunch and other stuff, tho they actually cost more than $50. It would be a nice symbolic thing saying i want to kayak in your future. Guess i'd have to order it soon online to have in time for VD. Course, i don't know what he might be getting me and i wouldn't want to embarrass him by getting something nicer than what he may intend himself.....
Any other ideas?

I believe Jeffrey has already written about this somewhere, but it involves wearing nothing more than a simple red ribbon....
Guys are easy that way.

I have a fossil shark tooth pin in my shop (click on the link below my name). It is intended for a guy and I actually don't charge enough. (My business is as a hobby for now).
There are many other handmade valentine gifts inside the feature box on the top of the page here or just do a search using the word 'valentine' or 'man'. Let me know if you have any questions :>

That was my first thought too, but she DID say this was a new relationship. Let the poor chap have something to look forward to!

I'm getting my DH a pair of binoculars for VD because he is into hiking and geocaching. Perhaps that would be an idea for you since he likes long walks. i am getting a simple pair, not th emajor megabucks type. He doesn't have to find the birds in the next county.

The article I wrote was a bit tongue in cheek, but you really can't go wrong with food with a guy...and as the relationship progresses, the red ribbon will always please too

Fern, I like your idea. The bag sounds appropriate.

Re: I Need Valentine's Day gift ideas for a man
Actually I was thinking a nice bottle of wine for B (if he drinks socially). You guys could share it together, making for a nice romantic evening.
It's a fun gift but not TOO personal OR relationship-y. The kayak bag sounds very nice, but more like a we've been together a year gift, not a new relationship one (to me - of course only you can determine from your perspective how far along you guys are.) I'm sure he'd really like the kayak bag, it isn't that - it's how quickly you are wanting to progress (or have him think you think you're fast paddlling) in a relationship...slow is good.
There is time.
The wine or liquor could be seen as a not too mushy valentine's gift OR a house-type-gift if he hasn't bought for you. I don't know what other companies do it but on the freebies list yesterday was a Kahlua shaker - while at their website I saw that they would make you free labels to be put on their bottles for gifting purposes...you might want to try something like that but not go too TOO gushy (I'll love you forever) on the inscription. Maybe something very generic like "Happy Valentine's Day!"
You are, I assume, not wanting to scare him away sudden like??

Re: I Need Valentine's Day gift ideas for a man
My man has a flashlight fetish! He has so many that I never knew existed with several functions. The only trouble for me is to find a place that he has not yet looked at.
He might have to settle with a homemade dessert of some kind.

Re: I Need Valentine's Day gift ideas for a man
Ill ditto the wine/food because like Lux to me a bag is a bigger thing..something if it doesn't work out he will have hanging around......which might be good, might be a PIA of emotional issues.
Course the hope is both the bag and you want to hang around (err, well not hang, but you know what I mean)

Flashlights are awesome. I guess it's the male equivalent of the shiney-shiney... literally! And the shinier the better.

Re: I Need Valentine's Day gift ideas for a man
Thanks for all the ideas, and the laughs. After I posted this, i started thinking maybe i'm going in the wrong direction; like Lux said, the bag seemed like a bigger gift than perhaps is warranted, and i guess it's not really a traditional V-Day type gift like chocolates for instance.
One of my main concerns is, esp.when it's someone new to you, you want to be sure to more or less match your gift level to theirs, so no one is embarrassed by either under- or over-buying. i was thinking i sure wouldn't mind the kayak bag for myself, so i could buy it and make a final deciison on whether to give it or keep it myself as the day draws closer, or perhaps keep the bag wrapped and ready to go, and have a backup smaller gift also wrapped, so after he gives me whatever, i could then know which gift to give! I know, that sounds ridiculous.

Re: I Need Valentine's Day gift ideas for a man
If it's not in appropriate..a maid/nurses uniform and a bottle of wine/champagne...and whereever it leads. Not too expensive, and if you want to do it cheap, well you could be just you and say he's the "boss".
