Default NE1 else avoiding MYSPACE hype?

Recently alot of my cyber friends are all on the MYSPACE bandwagon.

I just don't see the point in it? KWIM? I already visit several forums & that's enough for me to keep busy + I'm married & there isn't anything I can't e-mail or post to most of them anyways. I do use alot of graphic intended for myspace on other forums but that's about all I want to do with it.

But everyone is turning into... "why don't you have a myspace acct yet?"

MY REPLY: WHY??? What's the big deal?

Anyone else avoiding MYSPACE?

Never been and just found out today it was for adults only I only ever heard kids speaking about it so thought that was who was often there now I find out they aren't supposed to be Just heard about a kid at my children's school (church affiliated) that got kicked out because of everything she was saying about herself there and the pictures she posted.

I don't see the point in it either. I think a lot of people use it for online dating. Musicians use it to promote their songs. Other people might find some other value in it, but there is nothing in it for me. I also hate how they allow people use their own HTML, which messes up a lot of pages. In addition to ugly pages that take a while to load, MySpace is also full of all kinds of viruses. I try to avoid visiting MySpace because of that. By the way, it was selected as the world's worst website by the PC World Magazine http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,12...s/article.html

not i... high school wasn't the highlight of my life, and quite honestly there aren't many folks that i'd have a lot in common with even if i did find them on myspace/classmates, whatever...

and what with working, eating, sleeping, pretending to clean my house, savingadvice.com, the cigar store, reading a book a day, and DH, when would i fit it in? sitting on the toilet? hehehe, who am i kidding, that's book time!

Never been there, never plan to go. No need. No desire.

Totally love it. Very easy to log in and say hi to a few friends, and a pretty convenient way to see how my younger cousins are growing up across the country. Plus I've even had a few high school/elementary school friends that I hadn't seen in 10+ years say hi and catch up on a few things. Just a cool site where you can be goofy, creative, whatever you want it to be. LOL @ "hype".

I have one, but only for meeting up with old friends. I don't blog there. I don't do much of anything there, really. I don't really like how self-obsessed a lot of the members (it's mostly the teenagers) there seem, with their crappy cell-phone photos of themselves all made up. I'm into real people, not people trying to be something they're not!

I have a MySpace but I rarely use it, only to view other people's photos since you need an account to do so. Facebook, on the other hand, is something I use often and am completely addicted to. It's just so handy & unlike MySpace, I don't have to deal with annoying bands I've never heard of trying to add me.

I'm on it, and have regained touch with a lot of old friends.

Facebook is something that I refuse to do because I will not reveal my school.

Tabbycat, in the past little while (a few months I think) Facebook has changed so that you don't need to provide your school to sign up. You can use your city, and I've seen people who have "no network" so I think you might not even need that.
