twins in college & scholarships

Does anyone know of any current scholarships out there designed for twins? The girls are not planning to attend the same college, so the colleges that offer a discount to twins are out of the question. One will be a math major and the other is studying criminal justice-there is no local college close enough to live at home and commute that offers both majors. Their dad makes too much for the girls to qualify for financial aid, but this will now put 3 in college at the same time...Mom died several years ago, so there is no income from her--The girls are graduating early from highschool in December, rather than the traditional May graduation, and this is ruling out several local scholarships that are only given in May. Both scored extremely high on their SAT-but due to dads income, they can't get much help. Seems the grant people don't look at the fact 3 will be in college at the same time-and child 4 will start next year. Any ideas???

I don't know of any scholorships directed towards twins, but these ideas might save quite a bit if they can be implemented:

Have the girls attend a community jr college for 2 years. The first 2 years at major colleges are basically taking required courses and you can take them at a community college and transfer to a college after the 2nd year. Saves a ton of money (what one of my kids did).

If that isn't an option, have them take some community college courses in their spare time than can be used as credit toward college courses. This can get them out in 3 years instead of 4.

Carl Albert State College in Oklahoma (Paula Nieto Twin Scholarship)

George Washington University in Washington, DC (50% discount for second sibling)

Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio (each twin gets the scholarship in alternate years)

Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia

Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College

Randolph-Macon Women's College in Lynchburg, VA (15% discount)

Sterling College in Kansas (50% discount for each twin)

West Chester University of Pennsylvania (Bonnie Evans Feinberg Scholarship)

Valparaiso University in Indiana previously had a scholarship for twins, where each twin would get a full ride in alternate years and the other was dependent on whatever aid they otherwise qualified for. This program was funded by an alumni set of twins. However, the alumni stopped funding it in the late 1990s.

The Illinois Organization of Mothers of Twins Clubs, Inc. sponsors a scholarship for four parents of multiples in Illinois who are continuing their education.

We have seen these, but the general idea is for the kids to continue to live at home, and to drive or walk to their schools-one will attend the local state college, 8 blocks from her home and the other a community college 11 miles away. To attend some of the schools that offer these "twin deals" would be more expensive, as their tution is higher as the girls would be considered out of state students, plus they would have to be living in a dorm and pay dorm fees, plus the transportation to come home on holidays and or weekends.

You may want to check out your local twins group. We do an annual scholarship given out in May to twins are are active in the community and have good GPA. It is not much but $2k. It is part of our annual fundrasing.
