Default Which coupons require previous receipts to use?

I was at Ann Taylor Loft yesterday. I had a coupon card for $25 off $50 purchase. I got that from a previous purchase. Then I took my coupon card to the store and they told me I must have the receipt from the previous purchase to be able to redeem this coupon card!!!

I spent all night looking for the receipt. I am now feeling very incompetent. Is it common for the store to require the receipt from the purchase from which you get the store coupon?

I feel really mad right now.

I've never heard of that. Is it printed on the coupon card? If not, I would say that you need to write a letter to them! Even if it is printed on the coupon, it's still a lousy practice.

I have never heard of that. If it wasn't on the coupon I would ask to speak to the manager and get the number to their corp office!!
