I don't own a TV so that's easy for us. We do watch movies though. I can gladly give them up but my DH really likes them. We're pretty careful what we play in our house though. No internet now that would be harder. I run a small business (home party type) and some of th eparties are done online instead of by my visiting the home. If that were the only thing I could do I would be willing

I didn't do it this week because I have been setting and working on other goals and don't want to mess myself up. However, i would like to do this once I get a couple other things under control.

Two things I'm thinking of: one, record all the shows I like (maybe 5 or so?) and go a week with none.

Or, just planning what i will watch for the week, and sticking to that, period, not surfing.

I'm interested in all your expereinces!!!

I had a teacher who taught a mini-course "Reading and Writing about television." Little did we 7th and 8th graders know when we signed up that requirment one was being absolutely TV free for a month!

Can't do it. I watch tv for news and info on a lot of my investmest that I have. I love the financial networks. Besides, at $110 a month for cable internet and digital cable with all the pay channels, it wouldn't make a lot of sense to leave the tv turned off, unless I cancelled my service. But then I couldn't watch Monday night football anymore. No thanks.....

not a failure, a success of less than normal TV.....

I am terrible at all or nothing...I like to aim for 'less' less chocolate, less TV, less junk, more walking...less and more are nice and subjective

Today is my second try. Yesterday I had turned it on before I even realised. As soon as I sat down I remembered and thought damm. Oh well its on now. I've been up for 30 mins and so far so good. The hardest challenge is going to be to not watch the TV that the kids are watching.

I can't right now--taking a free class on the educational station on DISH. But, normally I put the dish on vacation rate $5 a month, every summer while school is out, so my kids don't sit in front of it all summer.
Since next year we are home schooling, I have been checking out the learning channel, university channel and a couple others. My kids have all taken Spanish for the last 4 years at school, and it appears we can continue with their Spanish and add possible French at no charge. I will tape the programs when they are on, and we will use them--no charge as we pay for DISH already.
