Default Are you looking forward to your Thanksgiving gathering?

Are you stressed just thinking of the family gathering this Thursday, Thanksgiving Day? I thought of this as a topic after I listened to a few people I know complain that every year someone is a freeloader and doesn't want to bring a dish; or Uncle Art will be there with his off-the-wall jokes or Aunt Susie will make it a point to undermind someone with her gossiping self! LOL.

Just wondering if someone wanted to vent!

I'm sort of looking forward to it. We're going to my parents' house and my brother, his wife, and their daughter they adopted from Estonia a few years ago will be coming from Indiana. It will be good to see them and spend some time with them.

BUT, I know that after they leave I will have to listen to my mother comment on how much weight they've all gained, how babyish his wife acts, etc. That will continue on until about Christmas time.

No stress. To me Thanksgiving is an easy meal to prepare and I have few to prepare it for. Looking forward to having kids home for a few days.

I am absolutely looking forward to it. It's one of my favorite days of the year. We go to my brother and SILs house next door for an early dinner then drive to Binghamton for a late dinner with my MIL and all DH's family. Some extended family will be coming in from NJ who we haven't seen in a few years, so it will be a great time.

looking forward to it, but we still don't know whose house is the targeted landing zone. i have a 1 in 3 chance, and whoever is the landing zone cooks the turkey this year. i've never cooked a turkey, and since i don't have an oven it'll have to be grilled. granted, grilled turkey sounds tasty mcyummy, so part of me is hopeful i get picked! otherwise, someone's gotta come here and get the 20 lb bird, or i've gotta cook it and take it somewhere else. ACK!

We're having it at our house this year and having the grandparents and rest of the family. It should be a good day. It gives us a good reason to clean up the house at least.

yes, ....and no...

mainly we havea hassle of a drive, and well since we are there not here, we coan't come home after..which extends the exposure (some things are best in small quantities) but it isn't the family I dread, it is the hassle to see them....

I enjoy Thanksgiving. It's just my sister (she's not married), my mom and dad, my husband, me and the kids! Very low stress and I love Turkey N' dressing!

Kind of. This will be the first year in a long time that I won't have to cook 'cause we are invited to relatives. But even though fixing dinner is a hassle, I'm sort of missing it! Right now, I'm at a loss because I don't have any shopping to do, no ham to pick up, etc. Oh well!!

p.s.: Since I don't have to cook dinner, our family will help with the Thanksgiving dinner at church, which serves seniors and homeless.

We will be alone. My dh is planning on working as usual. We would go out to eat at night, but nothing is open, so it is probably steak on the grill for us. It is my birthday!

Happy birthday, fairy74. We use to do the birthday party/thanksgiving dinner thing too, when my MIL was alive. Now, I don't want to cook on my birthday and we have no relatives.

I am having my parents, an aunt and cousin, brother his wife and two kids. Those eight are staying at my house. Then I have a friend, grandparents, and boyfriend coming over too! It's the first big family thanksgiving dinner I've ever done. I think I have everything planned and prepared. It will be interesting to see how the weekend goes. Everyone also gets to meet my boyfriend (hopefullly 'offically' (ie ring) will happen sometime before chirstmas!!!) so that ought to be interesting to say the least. I am looking forward to it, but I also know I will be very happy once it is over!

After we eat, usually we go for a little hokey scavenger hunt in the park, that way we don't feel like beached whales the next day, then dh and the boys (and girls who like it) watch football, soccer, etc...I usually play with all my presents! hee, hee
