It all depends on how it makes you feel. There are those that have blemishes or something on their face that they want to conceal. Everyone has something different. I like wearing make-up; but I also like giving my face a rest. I enjoy going to Public Beauty Schools and getting facials. They are so worth it and very reasonable. Plus, you're giving someone a chance to use their art to learn.

I believe it's just knowing what our motives are when it comes to beauty. What motives you use can help individual face their own reasoning or value on beauty.
I notice from observation that a lot of people get mixed up with looking "sexy" and looking "nice" as the same thing when in fact it’s so different. This can lead to dressing improperly for job interviews and etc. I do buy hair conditioner because my hair is so frizzy if I don't. I think frizzy hair does not look "nice” My make-up looks natural, I like using it because I am not washed out looking or pale looking sick but yet I still look the same. It is also a quick way to look refreshed when I am on my not so good days. I have been told by co-workers that I look sick when I do not wear any make-up to work on some days. I like the tinted moisturizer because it has sunscreen in it and it’s not thick or eye burning like the plain sunscreen. |

I spend a lot of money on cleansers, lotions and makeup, etc. When I was younger I had acne which left minor scarring on my face. I find that if I don't use the right products (which tend to be expensive), I will still get blemishes........at 30, UGH!!!!!!!
I tried getting chemical peels at my dermatologist for a while (which were quite expensive) but they didn't really help with the scarring, and left my skin very dry. And the truth is, I enjoy wearing and experimenting with make up and other beauty products. If I look good then I feel good, and to me that is priceless. BUT, if spending the money on beauty products would ever mean that my family would have to do without, I would look for cheaper alternatives. |

I spent $15 three years ago for two lipsticks, eyeshadow, and a bottle of perfume from Avon. I am still working my way through it all. I don't wear a lot, since I'm fair, but my friend gave me a few things too.
I woulnd't have bought it at all except for student teaching, and office work. |

I think make-up is one of the best "cheap" indulgences. I don't mind spending $5 on a lipgloss that lasts 6 months, rather than on a cup of fancy coffee that you gulp down. I don't believe in spending a lot of money on make-up though, from what I hear you are paying mostly for packaging and advertising, not to mention the floor space in a dept store.
I used to spend quite a bit on skin creams, but lately I just use the discount store stuff and it works find. Olay is great, works just as well as the expensive stuff I used to buy. Also, if anyone likes to use body wash, try Ultra Rich Shea Butter by Softsoap. For $3 for a huge bottle, it's great. |
