hehe! i just realized on monday that thanksgiving is NEXT WEEK!!!! ACK!!!
seems like one days it's ramp up for halloween, and then it's months of jingles and shopping and eating and red and greena and gold and ivory and aaaaaaaaaaaagggggggh! oh, and don't forget the cinnamon scented everythign whereever you shop... i've only bought half of a gift so far, and have reserved half of another. that leaves 3 couples plus work folks and then i quit! |

I have bought all gifts except for DH gift (but I know what I'm getting him and will get it with next paycheck). Have not even looked at the Christmas card list yet----uuugh! Did order copies of photos we are sending with our cards. Last year was a last minute mess, so I am happy that I am much further along this year!

have part of inlaws, part of my mom's, Hubby's will be in first part of dec. STILL trying to get a list from DS and DIL. Gotta work on my brother's family. Note to self: call mom to find out if they have The List from brother and email SIL. Maybe both will work. Need to order DD's. I NEED to quit procrastinating....And oh yeah, ask SIL if she got this year's tool list from Dad. I don't know that there are any left on the planet he doesn't own.

I have not done a single thing yet for Christmas. The bereavement flight to MT did throw me off track. But real reason I put this off is I am working two full time jobs (120 hours per week) and do not feel like shopping on my spare time. My last day of working the second job (80 hrs/week) is coming up and I am going to veg out for a few days and then see what I can do about Christmas.

I bought a few things for dh. He is the only one that I am buying for. I will just give the kids some money. I did buy some really neat cards on QVC!

we have partial gifts for MIL and my bro already... and planned (waiting for a sale that i know is probably coming) partial gifts for MIL, mom, FIL, sister, and DH... still brainstorming for everybody else... we're all downsizing because space is tight so stuff isn't high on the list and shopping is a little harder than normal...

Almost done - need a gift for FIL I think is all. & I know in December I will have some gift exchanges to buy for. I got the stocking stuffers and everything. I Was starting early to be frugal and actually found everything pretty quickly. I usually like to have most of my shopping done in November, but this year I started OCtober and it feels good.
Wasn't much to buy for - dh & I are not even buying each other gifts. |

Well this year is really tight for us, dh was laid-off for 5 wks. Back in my spendy days, I was a sucker for all those expensive skin care products on home shopping, so I have tons of products and samples left over, something like 21 jars of hand cream, 6 tubes of face lotion, etc. So I'm making gift baskets for teachers, neighbors, SIL and others. I found some nice baskets at Michaels for 40% off and bought some little 2007 planners to include. This may sound cheap, but it's the best we can do for now.
So that's the extent of my Christmas shopping so far. Kids want that new Playstation that cost $500, but we said forget it, even if we could afford it that's way too much. |

I started last January. I am almost done. I space it out over the year because I sew alot of them and for financial reasons. I usually buy a Christmas gift when I make or buy their birthday gift. That way I always know where I am without sorting through the closet. My twin grandsons born in December tend to mess up the system though.
Note to those who aren't buying for DH and vice versa. i planned on that one year and my sister made a comment that I have never forgotton. If you have littel kids an dthey see that you have nothign to open on Christmas, why would they want to grow up? Sounds wierd to an adult perspective but stuff like that sticks with kids, Growing up is no fun...you never get presents.... Just a thought. Even wrapping up something form the dollar store solves the potential problem. Of course if your kids are older that's different. |

I haven't yet, but I'm doing mostly gift certificates. As they get older, my parents and in-laws are increasingly harder to shop for, and I'd rather just let them get something they really want than pick out something they're only adaquately pleased with.
*sigh* I guess I should get a move on. |

Decided not to give anything to anybody for Xmas. No shopping this year. Not sure if it will work out thoug... Most people are probably going to give me gift anyway, even if I ask them not to, I will feel guilty and voila --- Xmas shopping spree

I bought a couple of books and puzzles for ds at a yard sale last week. I'm still not sure what I want to get for him for his 'bigger' present. We travel at xmas and it's such a pita (and costly!) to ship presents back and forth. We give a lot of gc at xmas because everyone is so difficult to buy anything for. It's hard to be frugal doing that but I don't know what else to do. DH and I haven't bought presents for each other the past few years and I imagine that will be the same this year. My good friend called me 'Scroogette' this morning. I had to LOL because I guess I kind of am. We aren't religious and I don't plan on perpetuating Santa (except as ....it's fun to pretend). I DO love taking a week off to visit family and friends. I just find the whole holiday thing overwhelming and overrated. Bah Humbug and Happy HOlidays : )

Just about. We got family protraits done for everyone. So they'll get the portrait plus $20 to buy a frame. Have a few things yet to get for the kids. bUt have planned the purchases. Just have to go and pick it up.

Just have to put the money in the Christmas cards and call Hickory Farms close to Christmas to have them send my 91 year old aunt a spiral turkey breast! That will be the end of the shopping for us. Now buying food for Christmas and New Year's Day is a different story.
Time to sit back and really listen to "Sleigh Bells" and "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" and enjoy the music for a change! Woo Hoo! LOL |
