Why do you need to lose it fast? You didn't gain all of your weight in one day, you can't lose it all in one day either. The recommended amount of weight you can safely lose in one week is .5 to 2 lbs. More than that is unhealthy, and you would probably be losing muscle mass--not body fat. What is up that you need to lose it so quickly?

An oldie but a goodie - Scarsdale. Just goggle it, you'll find the menus.

Whenever I find that I've crept five pounds past my optimum, I do Scarsdale for a week or two to get back to my fighting weight. (Once or twice a year.)

Yes, slower is better but sometimes those reunions or parties or whatever show up on your calendar and it's time to bring in the big guns.

Like saving money, there is hardly ever a quick fix. Diet and exercise. But you already knew that

Snack healthily throughout the day. Dont starve yourself. Keep moving for 30 minutes a day, three times a week. Get plenty of rest. Eat those holiday goodies, but in moderation. Yes...you can have a cookie once in a while, but no need to binge as a "reward."

Good luck!

The only thing that has ever worked for me is called the rotation diet It was big a long time ago. I like it because you eat normal foods just in single portion A bowl (1cup) of cereal with fruit or piece of bread with cheese and fruit for breakfast or maybe cottage cheese fruit and piece of bread -- one dairy one fruit and one carb. Lunch is tuna sanwich or salmon or salad with tuna or cottage cheese with one piece of bread Dinner one piece of meat (size of a deck of cards) and two vegetables It works if your heavy 21-25lbs lost in 3 weeks if maybe 30 - 40 lbs overweight at least 10-15 lbsand you get pot roast stir fry spaghetti (2nd week) but mostly fish chicken and beef rotated 1st and 3rd week

Eat less.

It's 200x harder to take it off once youv'e consumed the calories,
so Just. Eat. Less.

No complicated caloric counting, wierdo 1 food diets, just self-discipline. When you find yourself thinking about food, distract yourself by doing something like exercise. Get used to that hungry feeling in the pit of your stomach. Means you're doing something right.

drink water. mild dehydration is mistaken for hunger by most people, so if you think you're hungry slowly drink a glass of water and wait 15 minutes. if you're still hungry, then eat, but chances are the craving will have passed.

South beach worked great for me. You lose 7-13 lbs. in the first two weeks (Phase 1), then lose about a pound a week after on Phase 2. You can eat as much as you want, so long as it's the right foods. There's a big emphasis on no sugar/white flour - actually, no flour or fruit at all in Phase 1, but then you add back the whole grains and fruit in Phase 2. I lost 20 pounds the first time I did this, but then gradually went back to my old habits (LOTS of dessert) and gained 5 back. I've went back to Phase 1 for a week and a half (lost 3.5 lbs) and am now in Phase 2.
I have to respectfully disagree with having a hungry feeling in the pit of your stomach - for me, at least, that would never work. I would always feel deprived and likely binge. I prefer to eat until I am full and have two snacks and dessert every day (doable on SB).

Recognize that the high weight loss seen in the first week or two of a diet program is water weight. Also recognize that you need to drink tons of water while you are dieting--muscles hold on to water when they think you are trying to starve them, but drinking more water keeps your system working and counteracts bloat.

Exercise as much as possible, walk everywhere you can, lots of water, NO COLA! (google why soda makes you gain weight, scary--up to 15 pounds per year), no fried food, cut down on the starches, watch the calories, keep yourself busy---if you're meeting friends meet for a walk, not for dinner. It won't come off fast, but it will come off.

I know of some ways to lose weight, but not overnight. You can diet and exercise. I find exercise - I mean actual MANUAL labor around the yard---helps me lose weight more than regular exercise like walking around the neighborhood. Manual labor involving lifting also improved the look of my muscles (muscle mass).

I don't believe all the weird diets out there, like "Drink green tea or our special formula and lose weight fast!". Losing weight fast might be neither healthy nor safe (not to mention sometimes impossible!).

I wonder how the OP did with his weight loss? They asked that question back in 2006.

But,
I'm into fitness, and there really is no magic bullet to losing weight. It's as simple as eating right and exercising. Slow and steady disipline and dedication always wins out over crash diets, pills, and powders.

Weight management and health is a lifestyle not something that you do when you think that you need to lose weight.

Good thread.
I think losing weight is not easy and there is no any thing in which we could
loss our weight quickly. If you are fat man and want to loss your weight then
you should do any exercise and also watch your diet and then you could loss your
minimum 20 lbs weight in 3 month.

I've been researching and slowly implementing this new lifestyle: The idea is that most of the calories you burn, you do so just by being alive—about 75-85% of it. It's very hard for aerobic exercise to impact weight loss and the benefits seem to be oversold, consider how long you run on a treadmill and see how many calories you burn.

So my method . . . resistance training (weight training) to build muscle. Eat more protein as protein takes more energy to metabolize. Ditch processed foods with little nutritional value, eat whole, nutrient dense foods. Eat breakfast. Eat every two to three hours so your body doesn't feel hungry. Prepare foods ahead of time so you're not at the mercy of what's convenient, usually fast food. Go to bed early.

Here is some easy and fast weight loss idea.....

• Make water your favorite drink. A person must have a minimum of 8 glasses of water in a day. Avoid taking soft drinks or carbonated beverages; moreover replace them with water. Water helps in reducing weight in the most effective manner.
• Don't stuff yourself with food in a single sitting; instead have 5 to 6 small meals or snacks in a day. Eating several small meals helps the body to release less insulin, which keeps blood sugar steady and helps to control hunger.
• Make a habit of walking. Instead of driving car to the nearby market, prefer walking down. Walking is more important for people in sedentary jobs. Walk for at least 45 minutes every day; it helps in burning extra calories.
• Keep small plates for serving food because a study shows that the less food put in front of us, the less food we'll eat. So downsize your food plates and coffee mugs, and say goodbye to those extra calories.
• Eat more vegetables during meals as water-rich foods like zucchini, tomatoes, and cucumbers reduce your overall calorie consumption. Some other water-rich foods include soups and salads; they are good source of nutrition.
