Default Boxtop points for schools

Does anyone collect those points on the tops of cereal boxes for schools? What exactly does the school get for them?

We collect them at my school. We receive 10 cents a piece. General Mills only lets you send them in twice a year and then sends you a check. Well, let me rephrase that. You can send them in as you go along, but they only send in checks twice a year. Being an inner city school, we don't get many of them, but we did get almost $200 for the whole year last year. We used it to buy school supplies for the kids who didn't have them.

To send them in, someone at the school has to register. Then you count and bundle them into bundles of 50. Then you fill out a form and mail them in and wait.

If you know anyone who wants to donate them to my school, we would be delighted to receive them.

I've had children at two different schools in two different states. Both parent teacher organizations collect these. As previous poster states, $0.10 is received for each box top. I donate the ones that come in to our house. They are on Kleenex, Ziplock bags, cereal, ect.

The PTO decide what to spend the money on. Something that benefits all the children.
