I recently bought a new pair of glasses so I'm a little short on funds this week. I have $6.79 to be exact. So, my goal this week is to try to have another no-spend week. It wouldn't kill me if I did spend a little, but I just don't feel like breaking my budget. Plus, I still have plenty of soup, pasta, and TV dinners left from the last challenge, and I really should eat some of that up.

The Goal:
By 10p Tuesday 11/7 I will...Clean out and organize my fridge, freezer, and pantry.

The Result:
bah! I got the fridge and freezer done (it was interesting, I'll give it that), but the pantry fell by the wayside. See, I had bought a bunch of meat on sale and had to package it up and get it in the freezer, which added to my freezer organization task.

Turns out my freezer is full almost to the bursting point: I even have a shelf that is trying to sag and break! Moral of the story: can't buy any more meat on sale until we whittle away the 7 species we currently have on ice!

The Reward:
No reward for me

Next up:

By 10p Tuesday 11/14 I will...Finish last week's goal of organizing the pantry, and create a viable schedule for reining in the household chores.

Progress report:

My goals for this coming week:
1. Stay on South Beach diet, Phase 2.
2. Pay off both MBNA ($123) and Discover ($900). Remove both cards from my wallet.
3. Close BOA cc.
4. Sign and return Health Care Proxy paperwork that has been sitting in my To Do pile for weeks (thanks to another post!).

So far, so good. I've stayed on the diet, even making a SB cheesecake for dessert tonight with sugar-free cherry topping. I've paid off the MBNA cc and am just waiting for my paycheck to clear (tomorrow) to pay off Discover. I closed the BOA account this afternoon. and I'm heading for the health care proxy right now that there are multiple adults in the household to be witnesses. Yeah!

Write my reserach proposal for next year.

Collect all makeup samples from everyone I know who don't like samples. I love samples.

Purchase Halloween supplies for next Halloween.

Finish some DNA extraction on some plant tissues that I have.

Grade some papers.

Considering my achievements thus far, I think I better come up with a new goal.

Maybe I need to spend less time on the internet and more time getting some things done around this place, so that will be my goal for the coming week.

Hehe. For me, the internet (more specifically, SavingAdvice) has helped keep me out of trouble. Rather than being "out there", where I have a greater chance of spending some money, I am here, talking about not spending it. That and the holiday shopping frenzy is kicking up. For the time being, I gladly play the role of a real life recluse / internet addict.

As for my previous challenge of switching to my new checking, my direct deposit isn't done yet. I talked to a company rep., and she told me that it could be another week or so before the direct deposit switch can be completed!

Also, I am still feeling the sting of having bought my glasses, largely because I don't want to let up on my bill payments.... Instead, I am continuing my pursuit of no-spend days.

In both instances, however, I am in no rush as everything remains steady as she goes.

Got the last 2 done. The first goal is partly done. I did get some ideas, but not as many as I'd like.
