Got my paycheck today and paid off $347.68 in credit cards. Also I closed out 3 of them 2 are my oldest ones but the companies refused to eliminate the maintence fees (one was 6 one was 5.75 and one was 10.95
savings will be around $240 a year for not having those fees) I know it will hurt my credit in the short run but since I just got done refinancing my house and paying of the last 4 collections on my report I'm hoping it will all balance out. Still have 7 cards between the wife and I (Each have our own capitol one, I also have 2 HSBC, Chase, Younkers and Home Depot all of which have no annual fees that I see in my statements) I did lose about $1900 in available credit but will save that over the long run by not paying fees. So I hope to run a credit check next month to see what kind of damage/ gains I have gotten. Any input on getting my credit score up? Craig Oh yeah we're thinking about moving to another state in 2 years as the wife can't make good money with her profession here, we have been thinking the Santa Fe, NM area anyone from around those part I might be able to get some info from (phone book/ numbers, building development, etc... ) |

Hey, congrats!
I've got a good friend who has 4 maxed out credit cards. HOWEVER! They've cut them all up, and he's using a debit card. That too is worthy of celebrating! ![]() |

Congrats. I remember how wonderful it was to pay off the CCs.
Ever since then we have always paid the balance each month. |

Yeah, I have used the cards for work, as I work construction but i get reimbursed weekly and pay the balance once a week once I get reimbursed. The wife did just get approved for a new WaMu CC and got one in my name aswell on this account since it has no annual fees and low apr after the 0% till june. So we will definitly be paying off all the cards in full IF we use them. We also have a small EF saved up of $1k.
