No, I don't think it's unethical. People act and behave in certain ways all the time to get what they want, and as mary poppins said, 'a spoonful of medicine makes the medicine go down...in the most delightful way..."
In the opposite vein, "A squeaky wheel gets the grease," meaning, you sometimes have to make a stink and a pest of yourself to get a complaint heard. So if he doesn't think that is unethical, being unpleasant to get your needs met, then he shouldn't feel that being extra nice to someone to get what you want is, either. |

Depending on how far you take it (clevage flashing, endless simpering, etc) it could be kind of pathetic, but I still wouldn't call it unethical.
I suppose it would be unethical if you were leading someone to believe that you wanted to be friends (or more) with them when really all you're interested in free samples. But if you're just being especially polite and friendly, I don't really see a problem with it. |
