Because currently I have no credit cards!! I've always been good with them, but just have tried to do without for the time being. It's getting difficult in preparing for a move...my cash supply is dwindling!

Years ago, as a graphic design student, I decided to pick an email moniker that would fit in with my chosen profession, look good on my CV, etc. I came up with neatdesign. The "design" part was for obvious reasons. The "neat" part because of its double-meaning: "neat" as in cool/interesting, and "neat" as in tidy/organized. Both elements are important to good design. It wasn't too long before I started using it as my username in various online forums.

Currently, I don't have any. I think I cancelled the last one in May of this year.

It really has only been a problem once. My husband went out of town and misplaced his debit card. Since he was on army duty, he still had a place to sleep and eat meals and a ride home, but when he wanted gum or a pop...he was out of luck.

I've been really tempted lately...but I haven't given in.

Oh, and our credit score is in the 800's!!!

Mathew Green: Fictional character in one of my favorite books, "At the Sound of the Beep" by Marilyn Sachs. Mathew and his sister run away from home but discover the person they plan to hide out with isn't at home, so they end up living in a park with the homeless people and learn some valuable lessons about life. (Primary plotline complication is that someone is murdering the homeless people, seemingly at random!)

You can't get much more frugal than living in a park with just the clothes on your back, and eating out of garbage cans. In Mathew's place I'd probably have lasted about 36 hours before calling it quits and going home!

I'm owned by a tabbycat and 31 can be interpreted one of 2 ways... one is that it's my favorite baseball player's number, and the other is that my birthday is on the 31st.

That's how desperate I felt about myself financially; that was I was so close to being completely overrun by debt that I was willing to risk destroying myself... in order to save myself.
