Default Anyone google their blogs??

I have done this several times now and it always surprises me. Tonight I googled "Eckerds rebates" and, a few entries down, up popped mjrube's blog, following by MarianneJ, and then a few more entries down was one of my blog entries!

Does this freak anyone out just a bit, or do I just not get out enough?

Hmm. That IS interesting. Mine takes a bit more work, but it does eventually show up.

But it does the reference to my name, in wikipedia anyway....

Either if you want to see what comes up, unfortunatly my name is a porn movie, so I never google it, but oddly my screen name, a name more suited to porn IMO comes up as my blog! Maybe I should start a blog with my real name and try to reclaim it..... (there is also a book, main character has my first name, written by someone with my last name, so I really can't win!)

"I always take home half my food from a restaurant and use it for lunch the next day," wrote someone who goes by the name "ImaSaver" in the online forum called savingsadvice.com. "I eat off the $1 menu at Wendy's."

Heheh, you're so silly. I had to type "savingadvice broken arrow" before it came up on the first page.

Still, I don't mind it at all. I don't care to be easily found. In fact, I'd much prefer if Google didn't spider it in the first place.

On the other hand, if you just put in "broken arrow", lots of things come up.

By the way, what this thing about you being in the *cough* adult entertainment industry? DO TELL!

If you have a website or blog you definitely want to do a google, yahoo, MSN, etc search to see where you stand related to competition. Be sure to use phrases that are related to your blog like "Saving Advice" to find this site. (Porn sites are very good at utilizing frequently searched terms in their web page design to help drive traffic)

My poker site used to be rated #1 and #2 on Yahoo if you searched a specific phrase 'freeroll schedule' (I have however dropped some the last time I looked).

I find the key is to find popular terms that are near the top for your market. In my example 'Poker' is too popular and everyone uses it. Find something that less people search for like 'How to lose millions at Poker', but still has a lot of people using that term(s) to find information.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a never ending battle to get the best ranking. Something like 90% of all searchers never look beyond the 4th page of results and 80% never get past the 1st page.

Good luck in your efforts to be found and you will make moola!

Actually, when I started this post, I was referring more to unintentional googling of blogs! I was really surprised when mine popped up for "Eckerds rebates". Of course, after that, I had to go back and google variations of my name with "saving advice", "save money" etc. to see in how many other instances it pops up
Yeah, fun and freaky all at the same time. It is really making me wonder who might be reading my blog now...I felt a bit safer in the savingadvice community, but now I feel so...exposed!

I was googling for Pinecone to get the link for someone and Ima's blog referring to Pinecone showed up 1st or 2nd on the list. I was quite surprised!!

I have yet to start a blog so...not so famous yet. Although my real name shows up that I've written a children's book!! A little more benign than others here!! (And no I haven't written a children's book.)

Hey, remember, I'm sure I can find some dirty laundry on you all too...maybe not Ima, though, she's squeaky clean (at least in her blog!).
