Are all images gone, or just your avatars and smilies?

Well, actually they do open eventually, but if you're going through the threads quickly you might be gone before they finish downloading.

Another posibility is that you have your "temporary internet files" setting set to small, which makes the browser re-download repeated images every time you switch pages instead of holding them in memory.

Having less video memory than you used to will slooooooow anything graphic waaaaaaay down too. And if it only/mainly happens on battery power, your powersaver settings may be slowing the CPU down so much that the images don't all get downloaded and displayed before you finish reading the page.

The first thing I would do is to check whether the display options have changed in your profile.

Go to My Control Panel (top left)

Select Edit Options (4th down under Setting & Options)

Scroll down to Thread Display Options

Check to be sure under Visible Post Options that Show Signatures, Avatars, and Images boxes are checked.

Scroll to the bottom and Accept Changes

Hope this helps

Your images may be turned off. Do you use Internet Explorer? Go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced and make sure Show Pictures is checked.
