Default Comcast question

Previously there was thread in which members said Comcast would lower their rates if you called to ask. Today, I got a flyer in the mail for new customers, so I called to ask for that rate. They said "they don't do that" What did other members say exactly, and how to I get around this?

Hi geojen,

I also had the same problem when I called Time Warner yesterday. They said it was for new customers only. I then asked them for the time warner package and they gave me a higher price than what I am current getting. Any help would be appreciated.

You have to call and say that you want to quit. It helps if you have a competing offer (should be some if they are offering a intro rate). This should explain it a bit more:

I live in an area where are there are no competing companies. Comcast is the only cable company in my city. Has anyone done it with no competing offers? I have an offer from comcast for new customers, but no other cable companies.

Do you have satellite TV service there? They are a competing company.

I did Call, I had just barely signed up and I told them no one told me about the Promotion...for some reason the system wouldn't let me do the Promtion so he did some Math and gave me a lump sum credit that I could use towards my first bill...which was fine because it cust it in half

Geojen,

What was the offer for new customers? I don't have cable or satellite, and Comcast is the cable company around here.

Thanks in advance,
CJ

Cheetawoman, there was a few offers. One was for current customers to upgrade to concast enhanced cable with on demand for free for 12 months. The other 2 were for new customers. One was for high speed internet for 19.99 for 4 months, the other was for new customers to get comcast enhanced cable for 19.99 for 6 months.

What I do:

“Hi, my name is Krankee Kustomer, I'm a completely unsatisfied customer that would like to cancel my service because I want to switch to the dish. However, I got a flier in the mail, if you can give me the same service at that price, I'll stick with you guys a little longer.”

If they decline your negotiations, cancel. Call back in a week and get the rate they advertise.

If you can't live without cable for a week, you have a problem. But then again, if you can live without cable for a week, maybe you don't need cable.

The other option is to switch to basic basic basic service. The $12.50 service that they don't advertise. This only covers local channels. Then call back and ask to switch to a more advanced package that you've seen advertised.

I called this afternoon and asked them to match the price that Directv was offering. They said they don't price match because their service is so much better, but they did cut my bill 15 bucks, so that is good!
