Default Casino Gambling question. Any high rollers here?

I was at the casino the other day. I sat down at the blackjack table with a few hundred dollars in cash that I had brought with me from home. But I was wondering what the high rollers do. If instead of buying $300 in chips, I wanted to buy $3,000 or $30,000, how does that work? I certainly wouldn't walk in with a suitcase full of cash. I assume the casino sets up some type of account. Does anyone know how that works? Not that I'm planning to do it anytime soon. Just curious.

No personal experience here but many high rollers will open a line of credit with a casino. That eliminates the need to carry huge wads of cash (and get mugged in the parking lot). Plus they get "rated" for their betting activity which gives them a ton of freebies (cash, discounts, hotel stays, dinners, etc.).

EDIT: Cashier checks are an option too.

You can establish a line of credit with the casino hosts. You would usually just start at the cage and they will direct you to the appropriate people.

I also, though, know plenty who just carry around up to 5k or so. Once you make it into the casino your money is pretty safe, especiallly once it's converted to chips. When you cash out, you would just have security escort you to the valet and stay with you until your car is brought up and you're on your way. I wouldn't do it with much more than that, but lots of DH's poker buddies feel comfortable carring a few thousand in and out.

I usually walk in with $40 and turn it into $40 by the end of the night, whether that is 1 minute or 2 hrs, I always leave with my $40.

Casinos around here will escort you home if you win as little as $2k.

Absolutely. I'm sure at any given time there are dozens of people in any casino carrying thosands of dollars in cash on them. I was wondering more about the BIG players.

Thanks for the replies.

That's good free entertainment in my book.

I had a good day Sunday. Sat down with $300 and walked away with $635. As I told my wife, I won 2 braces payments.

I have only been once, in Mississippi. It was great. My dh and I each had a roll of nickles, $4 worth. We got free drinks. There was a live band and we danced for a while. We watched other people lose lots of money and we had a great time for $4!!

The once every couple of years or so that I make it to a casino, I usualy bring in about 60$ and leave with about 0$. Not exactly a high roller, but I guess I do my part to contribute.
