I save rubber bands, twist ties, plastic bags, pens and pencils, paper clips, plastic containers, baggies and aluminum foil, hotel toiletries, hotel coffee and teas, change, I wash and reuse plastic coated paper plates, plastic throwaway cups, plastic utensils. I save all bread heels in the freezer and then grind them in the blender to make bread crumbs. I save cigarette points (dh is a smoker). I save hotel and airline points. ( A previous co-worker told me she didn't have time to sign up for these programs even though she flew every week and stayed in hotels like me, for months at a time!)
I save old washcloths for rags. I save 2 liter soda bottles and refill them with tap water for emergency use. I stockpile food, toiletries and paper products. I save my old books for trade. I save coupons from the Sunday paper. I save newspapers to wrap presents in and for miscellaneous uses. I save computer paper and use the other side. I save extra napkins and condiments from restaurants (I never steal these). I recycle Christmas decorations, cards, bow and boxes. And I recycle shipping boxes and materials. Last but not least, I save money. |

I save Cool Whip and similar plastic, lidded containers. They are great for freezing soups, taking lunches to work, etc.

I'm with Ima. I save money! Actually, I throw it all at CC debt, but whose counting?
![]() I don't keep a lot of things. There's recycling and penny pinching, but to me it's all clutter. Also to me, clutter repels money. The more clutter I have, the more likely it is that I will be unable to find one of many paperclips I saved and I will run out and buy more. (Bad example by the way...I do save paperclips and I know exactly where they are) I do save twisty ties though...I use them frequently. And old t-shirts make great dust rags...better than I could buy. |

Plastic grocery shopping bags which we use to line the small bathroom & bedroom trashcans. Senseless to throw them out only to go out & buy more little plastic trashbags! Who cares if they have printing on them?

I save the bags that cereal is in inside the box. These are airtight and make great freezer bags. Also great for putting onion in the frig, the smell can't get out.

I save corks from wine bottles, as my cat likes to play with them.

I save my sanity. This past month I've let my youngest (CashHappySon) sleep in during the morning hours since we've constantly butted heads the last year or so! He works in the afternoon/evening hours and until he's ready to move away from home it is easier for me to enjoy the quiet morning hours with him sleeping instead of up arguing! No matter what I say he has a grumble or argument or is wanting to buy something.
..auugghghhhhhhh...he's in crazymaker teen mode. Letting him sleep is the easy way out I know, but for right now EASY is feeling pretty darn GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!! vs. : . Which would you pick? |

Actually studies show teens need almost as much sleep as toddlers..and they seem to get the best 'REM' in the early AM..which needs to be followed by 'deep slumer' or something like that, I can't remember where the study was, but so long as your kid is getting some social time with the family, I would let him sleep..I plan on letting mine when are that age, and I wish I was allowed when I was that age! (who am I kidding I would rather I was sleeping right now!)

more on the whole late sleep thing though both say 9 hours of sleep, which is less than the study I read couple years ago. |
