Hi!
I’m a huge animal lover and I was wondering if anyone could help me solve my problem… I have a dog who’s name is Elvis and a cat who’s name is Princess! I’ve discovered that Elvis had worms, (is it possible that he got from other pets???) so I want to my vet and he gave him a de-worming medication in a tablet form but he wouldn’t swallow it!! I didn’t want to use too much force so I tried wrapping it with some sausage but he some how figured it out! please help me!! Tami |

Hi Tami, I am a dog lover and an elvis lover. I have an "elvis" bedroom. I also have a small dog who will not swallow pills no matter how I hide them in meat, cheese, etc. She spits them out! Sorry, I am no help, my dog, Holly has not had worms.

Try these:
Pill Pockets for Dogs for Small Pills (35 count)** Pill Pockets for Dogs for Medium/Large Pills (30 count) Pill Pockets for Dogs for Xtra-Large Pills (30 count) If the pills are very small, try the following to save yourself a couple of bucks -- trust me, your dog will never know it's for cats: Pill Pockets for Cats for Small Pills (45 count)** **You can read my reviews of the Pill Pockets for Small Pills for Cats at the link above (Amazon.com) and my experiences with these. Bottom line: Highly recommended! ~ Jenney |

Ah, the famous "pill spitter outter" type dog!
I use peanut butter! Make sure the pill is totally covered with the PB and that you have MORE than enough PB to make a glob. Take it, put it at the end of your finger (should be about half to a complete TABLEspoon full, not a scanty teaspoonful) and let the dog smell it. DON'T let them lick it off your finger, they'll find the pill. After they're drooling to eat the PB, take it and scrape it off your finger by using the backside of their front top teeth. Don't worry, their mouths will be open from the smell alone! The PB should sort of stick to the back of their front top teeth. From there, they lick it off, USUALLY unable to find the pill. I've only had one dog one time find the pill that way and it was my fault for not using enough peanut butter. If you have more than one dog, give the pill to the first dog, but treat the other dogs with a glob of PB in the same manner. Next time they need a pill, they won't know it's stuck in there. ![]() Hope that helps! CJ |

our dog will eat just about anything - but when we had to giver her dewormer we put it in peanut butter, and wrapped it in a small piece of turkey (thin sliced deli turkey, for sandwiches) and it was gone before we knew it.
maybe try cutting in half or thirds and putting it in peanut butter -- then rubbing the bottom of her mouth/throat so he swallows. |

My dogs take the wormer pills/heart worm combo thing and they have never cared about eating it, but there have been other pills that have been a challenge...guess what I learned...after much frustration...
Open their mouth...if you are a good shot, toss it back so far in their throught they don't have any choice but to swallow it. Or if you miss, just stick your finger in their mouth and push it back, almost putting your finger down their throught. It's painless, takes all of ten seconds...maybe...and you don't have to worry about it anymore. And no, all the times I've done this they have NEVER choked or come close to it. Now if I can do this with 90 lbs dogs I am sure you can handle it. I rule the rost not them and if I tell them to do something they'd best do it. If your dog doesn't allow to open their mouth and take things in and out...you have bigger problems then pills! |
