Shoot. I just read the find print. You only get free service for 120 days and 300 minutes a week. After that they make you buy credit. Here's the find print and link to it:
Free* calls with Voip Stunt Not only can you call your online friends for free, Voip Stunt also offers free* calls to any regular land-line in various popular destinations (see panel). To counter misuse of our network we have limited these free* calls for our trial users. If you want to enjoy longer free* calls to these destinations, just top up your account by buying credit. Voip Stunt Freedays If you buy credit, you will get 120 Freedays (unless stated otherwise). This means you can call all countries in the free destinations list for 120 days at no costs. When the 120 days are over, you will keep your credit, and a minimal rate (for instance 1 cent/minute) will be charged for the free destinations (this rate depends on the country and will one of these days be displayed on the rates page). http://www.voipstunt.com/en/free.html |

I wanted to give you an alternative, which I am trying out now, and if sucessful, I will get rid of Vonage.
I have a skype account, which allows free PC to phone calls within US and Canada free of charge, until end of this year. I had used this on limited basis because I hate using PC headphones to make calls and there seemed to be interference betwen the headphone and the PC. Anyway, I found USB-Phone adaptor made by yealink network and purchased USB-B2K USB ADAPTOR FOR SKYPE for around $30 on Ebay. I got it yesterday and hooked it up to the phone and it works great. You can get a phone number from Skype and it costs $12 for three months or $36 for a year. Downside is you cannot keep your number but I figure it only costs $4 a month for phone service, at least until end of the year. After that, Skype may go back to their old pricing, which is 2 cents a minutes within US. I am going to have both services going on two seprate phones for a month but I will use Skype-hooked phone for all outgoing calls to test voice quality and also call on that number to call home, and if all goes OK, I am ditching Vonage. |
