I told someone I sort of know long distance about this site because of our conversations of Dave Ramsey and financial goals came up.

Though I love to share and give others beneficial financial advice, I did regret informing someone I know because I feel more free to express my financial situations and of my vulnerable self when I feel when there is no one I personally know.

Thankfully this person was someone I met online and never met in person. It would just be too awkward.

I feel the same way. I'd hesitate to tell people I know in the real world about websites I post on unless they already know me so well that nothing I might post would surprise them.

Fortunately (or UNfortunately, depending on how you look at it) none of the people I know offline would be likely to visit this website. On the rare occasions when I broach topics related to frugality, LBYM, setting money aside for emergencies or planned expenses.... I get either bewildered expressions, bemused looks, or comments that indicate their idea of "frugality" is buying their workclothes at Walmart, whereas I buy very few clothes and mostly buy them at garage sales and thrift stores.

Oh well, the people who wash and reuse their zip-lock bags (ala Tightwad Gazette) probably feel the same way about me.

Hmmm. Are you saying that you are frugal, but use ziplocks willy nilly? Or eschew the bags altogther? You piqued my curiousity!

The SO knows I come on this site (and that I have a financial blog), but he doesn't read either. Or rather, he may have briefly browsed, but didn't find it interesting.

He's a compulsive saver, but he's past his "obsessed with money and financial security" stage, and thoroughly unmotivated to invest his substantial savings in mutual funds and/or real esate, and make his money work for him.

He's actually unhappy about being a saver, and wants to be able to buy himself the stuff he wants.

Oh well. It's too bad, really. I would have liked him to participate. I have nothing to hide or be embarrassed about, so it wouldn't change what I post. But in the end, he doesn't belong here??

But I guess this means I can trash-talk him all I want!

No he doesn't read it - or anything financial - or anything else period. Avoids the printed word at almost all costs, although he is a good reader. Other family - No. Friends - No. Change what I post - No.

I wish The Hubster would read financial stuff then I wouldn't have to work so hard to convince him to do some of the things that would help our bottom line. I try reading the relevant parts to him but alas sometimes it seems to have no effect.

Um...no! And I hope NOT! I'd probably hurt family members feelings if they read this. Though they may just roll their eyes at me...who knows.

I've told a few co-workers, but I doubt they'd care.

My wife knows about it, but doesn't read it because I tell her all the goodies I find here and elsewhere! No one else would know me if they came here.

Would it change what I post? Absolutely not! My SIL already knows how I feel about her and so does the rest of my family know about how I feel about their lack of financial responsibility! Then again I don't think they care what my opinions are because they are still WAY in debt.

I don't know anyone here IRL. DH will read over my shoulder at times (and pretend he's not interested), but as far as I know, he doesn't come here on his own. I would definitely feel more constrained if any of my friends or family were here. I like being about to speak (and whine) freely.

Unfortunatly having a site that is soo helpful like this I want to tell everyone..but then if anyone comes here...they will see what I post..so I ahve to be polite, course it is good practice for me, I am totally not tactful, polite, or circumspect...

Nobody I know IRL are on this forum, thank goodness.

Two people I know offline know about my blog, and that has made me neurotically go back and read old posts and make sure I didn't say anything I wouldn't say to people's face. But I do worry about the lack of anonymity on my blog (not so much here) and I think I'll probably take it down one of these days.

SO knows about the site and knows I blog, but he says he doesn't read it. I've mentioned the site to several other people but I always refer to it as "the savings website" and don't give out the url. One of my friends asked me if I blog, and "yes" flew out of my mouth before I could stop it...but I didn't give her the url. Part of me would like to share it, but part of me just wants to keep it to myself...you know? I like having "my" space, shared with all of you wonderful people.

Neither. I use ziplocks and flip-top plastic bags like I would any other disposable item.

When I need a container for something that might leak or might get contaminated by other stuff falling onto it, I prefer using a reusable container. But if keeping track of the container and bringing it back home would be a pain in the tookus, or if the stuff I'm carrying is major difficult to wash off of a container after it dries, then I choose the plastic bag as the cheapest easiest method. I brown bag my lunch five days a week, but my average plastic bag consumption is only 4-6 per month because most of my lunches don't leave a sticky mess in the container. At that rate, eschewing the bags when I have something messy seems pointless.

FWIW: I've always questioned the frugality of washing any plastic bag other than the heavy-duty freezer bags. The cost in time, effort, soap, and water seems higher to me than buying another bag. Different strokes for different folks and all that...

My dh doesn't read anything but hot rod magazines. The other forum I am on knows of this site, but none of them care about saving money that I am aware of. I have told two good friends, but they don't seem interested. I would not change anything i say on here either. I don't mind talking about my finances to anyone.

No but I have a friend & a few acquaintences that should be.

There are family members who'd love the ideas but they are computer illeterate, so there ya go!
