I have to try not to let my feelings of resentment overpower me during this season. I do feel as though much of the burden falls on me, as many of you have said, but then it's not really a burden because I do enjoy it. I get resentful when I feel like I HAVE to cook or I HAVE to decorate. If I don't do it, it won't get done. I have to remember that I do it because I WANT to. DH will do absolutely anything I ASK him to do, but I do have to ask, and sometimes I feel like I push my joy on others. LOL! "You're not enjoying this, darnit, you're supposed to enjoy this!!!" That's me in November and December.

I am so looking forward to the holidays - especially Halloween! It's one of my favorite pagan holidays!

Love Thaksgiving - nice and low key. But I am loking forward to it because that's the day we take out my nieces' Fisher-Price nativity sets and I help them put them out in their rooms as their first Christmas decoration - so cute.

Christmas is fabulous - I get the best feeling from being able to buy clothing and toys disadvantaged children - it makes me really appreciate the things I have. And it makes me Santa Claus! Also, I LOVE the shopping I do. Our family draws names and sets a dollar limit and I find it so fun - it is a challenge to me to see what unique item(s) I can find and get the most for the dollar limit. I adore wrapping presents and I adore finding unique gifts. I get to take my 5 year old niece shopping for her Mom and Dad and then I help her wrap while she makes them cards. I really like holiday parties - going and throwing. Cookie making! Christmas concerts! Holiday plays! The lights! Yeah! The only thing I don't like is Christmas cards. No one ever reads them and it is such a chore to send them all out.

New Years is great too - fresh start, no crazy new years eve though. Just a lovely family brunch to kick off the new year together.

I really do enjoy Christmas. Around here, it means visiting with family and friends that I do not get to see through-out the year. It means teaching my boys the true meaning and being blessed that I can. It is a time for remembering Christmas passed, and plan new traditions throughout the years. I don't get caught up to much in the commericalizm of it all. I depend on the reason for the season! It will no doubt be a leaner than most year for us, but we never stop believing in giving, sharing, & God! The world today seems to think that "More stuff is Better" But not to us.
I reckon the most favorite memory I have was when I took my son with me to make some of my holiday rounds. The joy, understanding, and pure air of it all was over-welming. We always give turkeys and hams to several elder folks on a tight budget. We also donate to the women's Abuse Shelter in our small town and also the Foster kids program. Now you say, that is bucks that could go here or there. Ya know, Quite frankly, I have never missed a dime of it! LOL For Real!
If we imagine the things and the way commerically Christmas should go we will no doubt be let down.
